Question Is there a limitor/govenor on a 2008 V6 Mustang?

I had to work today, a saturday damb it! Was on my way home on I-20 headed east from Jackson (Mississippi) to Brandon. Decided to open it up and see what my baby would/could do.. I got up to 115 mph and it just quit at that! Pedal to the metal, 115 max. Is there a govenor or something on the V6 stang that prevents going over 115 mph? If so, will a custom tune take care of this?
Thanks

yes. 115 i believe is the max. i am no expert on the V6 i know GT is 127. and yes, a custom tune can get rid of the top end speed governer

To my knowledge the governor on the v6 mustangs is at 113mph and as was stated before, it can be removed or set higher with the aid of a tuner.

I wouldn't do it if you like your driveshaft, and your whole drive-line for that matter, where it is. The stock v6 drive shaft gives out at ~125mph.

With that knowledge, personally, you won't find me any closer than 110mph and thats very rarely.

Then again, its your car, feel free to 'mod' it however you like.

i've gone 138 on the stock driveshaft but i wouldn't recommend it, i beat this car to hell and it never has any problems, i think i got a lemon.... a lemon that is impervious to abuse

It's attributed to a multitude of things...

-Drive shaft, though he has an 06 with the new clips so he should be fine

-Tires: the stock bfgs are rated at like 115

-Tune: needs a tune to remove the limiter

"S" speed rating = 112 mph

I made sure to get "S" rated snow tires this year...

Only had 'em up to 105, but they are sweet!

I wonder if they changed that in the newer models. Before the tune, I ran my GT right to the end of the speedo, in fourth. 145+.

But to the topic... yes, I have heard of people, on here, having their driveshaft come apart around 130, because the clips came apart. New driveshaft and you are golden. Get shaft loops anyway, just to be sure. It made me sick... don't let this be you....
