just looked on ebay and saw a bunch of "performance modules/chips" that claim increased hp and fuel economy by adjusting the ecu. are these for real or should i run scared?

I've seen them too, I would stay away from them. There is always a trick or downside when you get something like that. It just looks too simple.

There are some valid chips out there. Like the SCT-6600 multi-position chip.
