Default HELP!! Trouble with stick on hood pins

I put them on yesterday,(05 v6 mustang) and thought I took my time picking the placement, then after I stuck them on, I stepped back and was instantly displeased. Does anyone know a fairly easy to get them off to re-position them after they have been stuck down (without damaging the hood or paint of course) If not then I guess I will have to live with the placement. They are nice and even and straight, just too close together for my taste.

assuming it's just 3M tape... try heating things up with a hair dryer... see if that will loosen them up... Paint should be safe with just a hair dryer... you might also want to try some monofilament fishing line... or even some super duty dental floss...

Bill,

The placement of the pins is not set in stone. You can definitely heat them up with a hair dryer, but don't blast the heat on it in one spot all the time. Move it around a bit. Then once heated, I used a thin, plastic spatula or putty knife to lift them off. You might have to apply some new 3M tape to be sure the next time you stick them on, they won't fly off at high speed and nail your windshield. That would suck, not to mention be embarassing.
Can you post a pic of where you have them right now? I too was unsure of where to place them. So I've placed them where I thought that I liked them. I posted a few shots on another forum and got some mixed replies.... Some people liked them alot, some saif that they were too high, or too wide apart. In the end, it's what looks good to you. Hope thi helps...

I have heard a piece of fishing line works well also, along with the heating process.

you know... if you got REAL hood pins and installed them corectly, instead of eyeballing it, you wouldnt have this problem... i've never understood the point of stick-on hood pins... IMO, its ALMOST ricer... go big or go home! in other words, dont stick it on, PIN it on!
