Default car squeals (squeaks) only when clutch in

I have read dozens of forum articles here and elsewhere about clutch noise. I can't get a straight answer to the question:
When the clutch is depressed and the car makes a squealing sound. is:
the problem with the throw out bearing OR the pilot bearing?

I have seen each one blamed for the noise when the clutch is in or when it is out. Does anyone really know which is to blame when the noise ONLY occurs when the clutch is depressed. 2005 V6 5 speed transmission. Thank you.

throwout bearing! it is the only thing in contact with the pressure plate ONLY when the clutch is depressed.

Yup...throw out bearing. Only takes a fingertip of grease to fix it but you have to tear it down to get at it. Don't know how many miles you have on it but put a new clutch in while your at it. You're already going to have it torn down to that point to be able to grease it so you might as well put it in at the same time.

Wrong... Ford uses a constant contact throwout bearing. It is in constant contact with the clutch fingers. That's why sometimes the noise goes away when pressing on the clutch pedal. Also why sometimes the nouse increases with the clutch disengaged. Yes they do make noise either way. It is one of the few parts of a clutch that can be warranteed. due to a noise concern and not wear (like a clutch disc). The pilot bearing seldom causes noise concerns, since the only time its spinning is when the clutch is disengaged (crankshaft spinning-input shaft not spinning, although technically input still spins, just not transmitting power).
