Default 2005 Mustang V6 Replace rear turn signal bulb

I don't know if it's just me or what, but how the heck do you replace the rear turn signal bulb? I removed the black cover from inside the trunk to access the rear of the brake-light housing, just like the manual said, and lo and behold, it is solid metal back there! There's absolutely no way I can see to access the bulbs without drilling through the body of my car, are you supposed to access the bulbs from outside the car, which would mean removing the entire red plastic part somehow?

You should be able to see a few studs with nuts on them. Remove the nuts(11mm) and push out on the studs and the taillamp houising will come off the body.

Ya what the last guy said. there should be 4 bolts on each side and 11mm sounds right.. take the bolts off and push the posts through the holes.. the taillight should slide out and you twist out the bulbs.. pain in the butt, but what are you gonna do.

after you remove the black plastic housing, you need to remove three nuts, to remove the entire light from the car. three nuts on both light housing.

Stock for now. Two GT take off muffler, connected to a GT H-pipe.Upgrade instrument cluster. Shorty antenna. GT rear bumper. GT side skirts. GT front and rear sway bars. So many GT parts, and still a V6 engine. Damn. 18 inch Deep Dish Black rims, with polish lip. 255 front, 275 rear, soon changed to 285.

Thanks to all your advice above, the operation was a success, I now have turn signals. That little part about large pieces of the car body being in the way was conveniently left out of the owner's guide.

While we're on this topic, do LED bulbs work well in our cars? I know in some they cause the circuitry to go haywire.

I know in my car 2006 works well. But I heard later models, 2007+. does not work well. I like them, plus I have the third brake light led as well.

I've seen LED sets for sale on ebay, but I think they replace the whole housing... they are decent looking, they have smoked lenses, I just love the look of the sequentials, and dont' know if they will work with LED.. But I assume they do work, and again, what the guy said before me..

I have just replaced what I thought was a faulty bulb on my rear left turn signal. Two new bulbs on the left side, and still no signal from the right one of the two. The signal on the right side works just fine. Same thing with the break lights (witch are the same bulbs). The right one on the left hand side won't light up.

Please advice...

No, they won't unless they've recently come out with a version specifically for LED bulbs.

Sequentials rely on resistance for their timing and LEDs have MUCH less resistance than incandescent bulbs. There's a couple folks here that have tried it in the past without success. About the only solution to use both would be to measure the resistance of the stock bulbs and put resistors in-line in the wiring to make up the difference on the LEDs. That maybe, sorta, kinda, might work but it's still iffy because the voltages used in LEDs are so much less. I don't know if it would trigger it properly.

Yep, exactly right. I tried it even though everybody said no. And the answer is that there is no pre-made kit out there for sequential LED taillights, other than the really expensive one that Moss Muscle has that just replaces the bulbs in the stock housing.
