Default Long Tube headers question, 2006 Mustang V6

K I was thinking about doing headers on my 2007 v6. i know long tubes give u more power, so thats what i'm kinda leaning towards, but i was wondering if everything would hook up and work ok with a single exhaust, or if i need to dual it out to do that. also if u go long tubes do u have to get rid of the cat? i'm fine getting rid of the cat, just wondering. Also if anyone knows how much it would cost to get it installed? Or could u do it yourself?

im sure you could do it urself. im not that familiar with long tubes, but i did intsall my shorty headers myself. i also heard that you either get rid of the cat completely or jus reposition it somewhere else

If you go longtubes, it makes most sense to go dual exhaust, I actually think you have to. You will need to get a new midpipe anyway. You have to get a shorty h or x pipe. No longtube headers will pass emissions so get an offroad h or x pipe. You can do it yourself but I think you will have to raise the motor and make sure you have some help. It will be really hard to do it yourself.

k i was kinda thinkin i would hafta go dual for this too. so here is another question, will i lose some torque going dual w a v6? and will i gain any torque w the headers or is all i'm gonna get is HP and i'll end up sacrificing alot of torque?

i doubt ull sacrifice torque going dual. it has to do with back pressure which shouldnt be a problem if u get an h pipe

you MIGHT lose some low end torque but the gains from the long tube headers will make that completely unnoticeable

xchris i think i read in one of ur previous threads u had long tubes once. Did they have to do any welding to hook everything up?

and does anyone know exactly how much of a gain to expect from the long tubes? I've been searching for numbers but can't find any.

Good luck with the long tubes. Here's a nice vid of them. Follow the link with the video to the site that has these monsters.
