Default Sound System

Hey I have a question about my sound system. So my Mustang has the Shaker 500, I think its just the mini Subs and speakers in the front. Its pretty good but I want a little extra bass. I recently bought a new Home Audio Sub JBL 12inch,500watts. ,Amazon.com: JBL Venue Series SUB12 12-Inch 500-Watt Subwoofer: Electronics.

Its pretty awesome, but I don't think ill be using it too much at school cause of the noise =/. I was wondering if I could put it in my trunk? I know I will have to get a amp if I was getting a car sub, but is it possible to put this sub in my car instead of buying a new one? Thanks.

I wouldn't butcher a decent home sub meant to run on 120v in a house to put it into a single 12" box in your car. You can pick up a cheap decent sub for $50 used or $100 new if you shop around on Ebay or amazon or crutchfield maybe with an enclosure. A single 12" box might give you fitment problems in your trunk so I'd go with a better grade 10" -try Rockford Fosgate- they never did me wrong or Infiniti Kappa if you like tight clear bass. Go on Ebay dude, used stuff you can pick up locally is cheap there.

don't forget the amp-I'd go with Rockford also as they advertise true rms wattage instead of peak watts like most weak-ass brands

your going to have to make a custom box for that sub cuz its not gonna look right in ur trunk the way it is now, you'll need to see if you can even plug in the 4 gauge or possibly 8 gauge wires into those to go to the amp your going to need. its just alot of work for no reason, just do what the guy above me said, go on ebay or something and find some used subs and amps or you can do what i did.

If your 18 you can apply for a best buy credit card which only requires you to pay $10 a month for 6 months before having to pay interest on your sound system, i bought a $1200 sound system for $400 and im just paying the other $800 off, you could even get approved for more then me depending on how much you make a year.
