I have the option of purchasing a nearly compete gt takeoff exhaust and i was wondering if it will fit on my v6? what exactly would be involved in this, or should i just stay with the single exhaust?

I have the duals on my V6,sound real good. The instal should be a breeze. I used the stock right side pipe and the GT left side pipe. The pipes were cut at the Y (on the 6er) and H pipe was fabricated then the pipes GT and stock were welded on. Mufflers hung real easy but I put a GT takeoff bumper on to clear the muffler tips. You can cut the stock bumper just as easy making a template from the right side..it looks and sounds good
I used the GT H-pipe and exhaust. You can cut the Y-pipe behind the hangers (leaving enough for overlap) and then cut and slide the GT H-pipe over the Y-pipe. I clamped mine and then had a muffler shop weld the joint.

Just be careful where you cut the Y and H pipes. Measure from the junction with the intermediate pipes and not from the hangers- the hangers were not the same distance from the intermediate pipes on mine. It might matter whether it's an automatic or manual car- I don't know. Otherwise, no problem. I did it without a lift and it was a little tough to get the intermediate pipe in there. I ended up jacking it up on 4 jackstands very high and got it in. The V-6 intermediate pipe is the same as the GT right pipe except for the balancing weight, so I just ground that off and reused the pipe.

cool . . sounds like it shouldnt be too hard, about how long is this going to take me?
Assuming you have all the parts, etc. (clamps, hangers) it should take a few hours. I worked alone and it took maybe three hours. Those pipes are pretty tough to cut. A chain cutter won't work, so a sawz-all or cutoff wheel are your choices.
I cut my left bumper ahead of time to match the right side. I used the right to make a template and then reversed it for the left. Contrary to what some people say, it is not the shape of a CD. It is actually not perfectly round. I cut it with a dremel tool, sanded the edge smooth and painted it with touch-up paint. Looks perfect.

i think im going to get a gt take off bumper anyways, maybe even the gt take off body kit, kinda like my own project v6 mustang . . without the supercharger of course . . no $$$
