question about BBK cold air kit

Default question about BBK cold air kit
I have a 2007 V6 and just installed the kit today. beeing the non-mechanic type the instructions could have been a little more clear or had visual aids.

My particular problem is where the inlet pipe connects to the filter itself. Is the C-clamp suppose to be on the inside or outside of the cold air box? The filter keeps wanting to ride off of the intake tube.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
