Default Having issues with my wife's 2006 mustang

I am new to this forum and wanted to know if you guys could help. I really don't know a whole lot about mustangs. I drive a Dodge SRT-4 and spend all of my time modding it and everything.

These are the symptoms:

While driving I can let off the gas at about 60mph or so and the car doesn't slow down. It continues at the same speed.

When I come to a stop I have trouble slowing down and when I do stop it, it bucks and wants to shut off. I don't have a check engine light on or anything.

The rpms vary at idle so it seems like you are reving it up a little.

You guys have any ideas or advice on this? The car is stock as of now but mods are coming in the near future. I didn't know there were so many mods out there for the V6 stangs. Thanks a head of time!

Sounds like the TPS (throttle position sensor). It'll give you surging and rough idle at low rpms & idle and if it's bad enough it could probably account for your high speed problem as well.

I had a Ford Explorer with a bad one and it didn't throw an error code either. The Haynes and Chilton's repair manuals didn't even mention this sensor existing (made it a pain to try finding it under the hood). I had to take it in and have it thrown on the computer to figure it out. I've seen this problem crop up a couple of times here with the mustangs.

Ok, do you have a part number? Possibly a location of the TIP? I am aware of the TIP problem because my has similar issues as well but the Stage 2 upgrade comes with a new TIP and MAP sensor.

The TIP on my car is located near the intake on the driver side. Is this a round about location on a mustang?

Default Throttle Position Sensor on V-6

The throttle position sensor is located on the left side of the throttle body ( drivers side ) Part # 9E928. Hope that helps.

Cheers Al

I am having trouble with the Stang... I actually wouldn't mind having an 06 GT but can't afford it right now.

I appreciate the help Al/stlwagon. I am going to start with the TIP and see what happens. I mean like today she only had some little issues. It wasn't bad.

*Anything else I should try along with the TIP?

Anything else it could be besides the TPS?
