Attaching Hood Scopp - Need to remove vinyl stripe where it attaches?

I have a set of the vinyl double stripes on my care and I am going to put a Roush hood scoop on. It attaches via 3M double sidded tape.

I'm wondering if I have to remove the vinyl where the hood scoop attaches. My concern is that force exerted on the hood scoop while driving will cause the vinyl to detach.

Does anyone know if I can just attach the hood scoop to the vinyl or does it need to be removed?

I would recommend removing the vinyl. That's what I did.
