I have recently received an engine from someone who claimed it was an older 302 not boss or ho just standard but when i checked the numbers and measured the deck height and intake valley i found that it was a 351 windsor so now i am trying to swap that into my 4.0 mustang's engine bay if anyone knows what i would need to do to make this conversion work please write on this forum explaining just what i will need to do.

Thats going to be a hard swap. I cant even imagine how you could wire that bitc* up.

well make a list..
new tranny or custom adapters
new motor mounts,probably fabricated
Headers or exhaust system
Radiator.... then when you get it all done will it pass smog? It has to pass emissions for the year of the auto not the engine...thenbefore that adapting the computer system to make it run...

not to say you cant do it but WHY?? more power can be achieved,,and less weight (did I mention new suspension?)with
a F/I system than with all this work.

It sounds like to me that you are just making a lot of work for yourself. If you want more power out of your 4.0l just go get a supercharger and tuner. and go that way. but that's just my 2 cents.

if you really want to use that 351W in something, but an old rolling chassis of a foxbody and throw it in there, leave it carbed and call it a day. you'll spend far less modding your V6 and doing that, than adapting the 351 to the V6 S197 body.

So far the list that has been stated (with some changes):
New tranny
Fabricated motor mounts for sure
Entire exhaust system headers and all
A radiator that will fit
Suspention
New Rear end - so change to the GT rear + diff
Drive shaft
100% custom wire job - have fun with that
Computer modding will be needed for sure - maybe custom comp.
Maybe you can get rid of the fuel injected and change to carb

Thats all I can think of but as how to do any of that well some you can do but the rest you better know some peolpe or know how otherwise your getting out the wallet.
