Default V6 Auto 0-60...

How fast should a stock V6 auto go from 0-60?

Consumer Guide Auto says it's 6.9 seconds, but I timed myself at like 8.3 seconds. Timing myself is not highly accurate, but that's a pretty huge difference and I don't think that driver skill is a factor since it's an auto and I'm just flooring it.

Was Ford just having a bad day when they made my car or what?

No added weight except for a full tank of gas. How do they begin timing on a track? I began mine as soon as I stepped on the pedal.

I took my v6 to the track last fall. It was bone stock except for the Bamachips 91 race tune and at the 330ft mark it got 68.29 mph in 6.887 seconds (just dug out the timeslip to get the numbers). This was at 5000ft altitude. I'm sure down there in California where's the air's a lot thicker it would do considerably better.

So your 0-60 is probably about 6 secs, which is pretty good for just a tune. But I wonder, when exactly do they begin timing at the track, is it as soon as the vehicle moves, or when it passes the line?

I took this video today.

If you begin timing as soon as the needle moves, it's around 7.2 to 7.3 seconds. But the thing is, I noticed that there is maybe a half second delay from the time the car begins moving and the time the needle begins to move. If I time it from the moment I press the gas (you can hear it in the video), it will be more like 8.2 seconds. Now I wonder if track timing is that particlular.

This was also filmed with a full tank of gas, I bet I can get it to around the advertised 6.9 seconds on a near empty tank. I want to try that again next weekend after I burn this tank off.

At the track, your car is staged when the front tires break a beam of light. The time starts running when your tires move 3 or 4 inches and the second beam is broken just in front of the tires. At least, I think that's how it works.

If you get a tune it'll get rid of that lag. I can sit at a stoplight and just touch the pedal and the nose will lurch up and the car will jump forward a couple inches (If I put my foot down there's no lag but it'll just sit and smoke the tire...scares the ricers off). The vehicle becomes very responsive with a good tune. I need to go to the track again this month and see what the CAI and exhaust did for me. The sequential taillights alone should give me another 5mph.

3 or 4 inches of movement would be a pretty accurate timing. In the video, the car has already moved much more than that before you actually see the needle move, that's why I can't see how I could possibly do 6.9 seconds like Consumer Guide Auto claims they got.

Are you saying that you can spin the tires just by flooring it? That's pretty impressive for a tune, as it is now (stock), if I floor it there is no loss of traction whatsoever.

The lag I'm talking about is a lag in the speedometer, if you look at yours, it should take a sec after moving for it to pop up.

It's my tires that do it. Can't stand 'em. Must be rated for 60,000 mile tread life or something 'cause they're hard as a rock so it's easy to break 'em loose and spin them (even when I don't want to). I never leave a black mark, just a polished stripe on the road. That's why I'm glad I can just smoke them and scare the ricers off. If I actually had to race I'd spin them for the first half block before they'd catch. Nittos, Nittos, Nittos. I need Nittos. Can't wait to get the Nittos.

Never really paid attention to the speedo from a stop. I'll have to look at it now.

Mine can do about a 6-7 sec 60mph run...
Am I wrong?
MySpaceTV Videos: 0-100 by Animal
My car actually feels like it has gotten faster since that day two years ago.
The trick is getting the proper take-off. In the video, I had to pull back onto the road to do the run.

Did i just see 100mph in third gear? Was this a standard shift or automatic?
I did WOT going to Nashville this weekend from about 70 mph and that V6 engine took off like a rocket, nose went up and before I knew it I was right on top of the 120 mark.....had plenty of tach left. Do they have a limiter on the darn thing?

Yes, I think it's at around 113mph but if you have a tune the limiter is disabled.

When I owned my 2005 v6 auto 0-60 was around 8 seconds as well.
