Default exhaust, chip, cai help

hey guys, I just recently joined this forum. After many days searching the forum for info, I must say there is a lot of great stuff on here. I am glad I joined the site. I just purchased my 2007 v6 stang with the pony package.

I have a couple of qeustions for you guys:

I am getting exhaust first. I went to my local muffler shop and they reccommended flowmaster 40 series. After reading on here I got mixed reviews on flowmaster 40s. So my question is what exhaust should I get. And how hard is the install?

Next, what tuner and cai are best for a v6?

Thanks in advance..

Welcome aboard! Be prepared for lots of opinions on exhaust, tuners, and intakes. Nice thing is, you have plenty of choices.

Welcome to the site! I installed a Flowmaster cat back on my 1988 5.0 and it was a terrible fit. It was hard to just get it to clear everything and with a heavy load in the car I would be able to hear it hitting the body. Having said that it's lasted for 6 years and sounds awesome. I think Flowmaster has the Super 44s out now as well. There are also a few other brands I hear good things about like MAC, Flowtech, Dynomax, Bassani, and Borla.

Flowmaster American Thunder axle-back all the way.

If you're looking to go duals then get the Pypes true dual conversion without mufflers and install the Mustang GT Flowmaster A/T axleback mufflers.

I have owned Mustangs since they started making then and have heard them all. Most of it obvioulsy boils down to personal preferences. What I do not like is two and three chamber mufflers like the Flowmasters. They have good sound at idle and a nice full on roar at full throttle. the downsize is that they get a resonant drone at certain RPM's, usually the RPM that you use to drive at. I got it straight from a Flowmaster engineer that that is why they came out with the Flowmaster 44. He said they reduced some of the drone but not all of it. My favorite Mustang exhaust of all time is the Corsica cat back system, I think it just sounds awesome and it has the price tag to go with it. My 65 I used Waldrens with internal diverter valves. Pure quiet down the road and when you open the diverter valves they have a nice rumble that is not obnoxious and no drone closed or open at any speed. My wife even likes them. Downside, they are stainless steel and cost $750 a pair. The price I paid to here my radio and startle the rice burner kid next to me when he needs a lesson in Detroit Power. Yes, I work in Detroit and am a full blown Detroit Power bigot. Waldron's antique exhaust, car exhaust, truck exhaust, exhaust pipes, mufflers
