Default Front brake upgrade

Hey all,

Looking to upgrade my front brakes on my 06 V6. Been searching for hours now! There's lots of threads out there saying you just need to change the caliper brackets and rotors. Rotors I can find everywhere on line, can't seem to find the brackets tho. I'm sure they are an OEM part, but I can't even find a part number for them. Now to play a 1000 questions!

Does anyone have the part numbers for the caliper brackets?
Can someone who has done this confirm that the caliper brackets are ALL that you neeed? No need for a new dust shields or any other kind of hardware?
After changing the caliper brackets I can fully use "brake kits" designed for the GT?

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Thanks!
-Brian

First consideration is:

Do you still have the V6 16-inch wheels? No easy upgrades fit those.

Next:

Yes, brackets and disks will do it. You don't even need to disconnect the brake lines or bleed the brakes.

And:

Ford calls the brackets something else (anchor plates). They are out there for less than a hundred dollars the pair.

TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL

Last:

Each of the GT upgrade kits adds and requires differing components, that will work with some wheels and not others; be sure you have matched what you have with what you want to add.

PS:

Newtakeoff.com has a good reputation and offers the full set for reasonable, sometimes. Just be aware that even the giants make a misstep now and then (bad-guy behavior, you must admit) :

I'm running the 17x8 Polished Bullits off a GT on her which should be fine with the GT rotors I'm guessing? One thing that's different is that the stock 16's use a 45mm offset and the GT's I have are a 39mm offset (so say the rims).

Thanks for the heads-up on the "anchor plate", explains why I couldn't find anything out there on a caliper bracket!

I thought about using the GT takeoffs, but I got my mind set on the Granatelli black zinc rotors. I think they'll look slick as hell with the dimples and slots black against the silver rotor color. Was about to start another thread on them to see if anyone else is running them.

Thanks,
-Brian
