Default 2007 V6 NEED advice!

I just got a 2007 v6 mustang and I'm looking for the best way to spend a grand or a little more. Any help would be great, I am pretty new to upgrading and mustangs in general. I have always wanted one but was stuck with a focus (still a nice car) for a while. I am going more for preformance, not looks. I want sequential tail lights, but thats about it for the exterior. Feel free to reply on this thread or PM me with any info you have for me. I am eager to learn!

For $1k you can do an intake & tuner (~$600). That'll give you $400 toward a set of gears or some suspension work.

What kind fo gains could i expect from the tuner and CAI and then the gears? I would want the next step up in gears, nothing huge.

Cold air intake and a tune, then look into a new rear gear ratio with an LSD or go with an 8.8" rear end off of a GT with either 3.73's or 4.10's.

The CAI with tune should get you at least 10-15hp

You have 3.31s stock so I'd recommend 3.73s. Nothing too drastic.

I agree on the cold air intake and tuner kit. You can get a good one from $500-600 with custom tunes. Try Brenspeed.com and Bamachips.com they're excellent tuners and have good prices on cai/tuner combos. Cai/Tune should get you between 15 and 25 rwhp.

You're also going to want to get your crappy stock muffler off there. Just a performance muffler on the new v6 mustangs will get you an extra 10 rwhp.

If you're looking to put in gears then you'll want to put in a limited slip differential in at the same time. The stock v6 mustang has an open differential so all of your power is generally focused on one wheel rather than both. A limited slip diff. will help to balance the power out between the two rear wheels. As for gears, you've got 3.31's right now. Popular choices are 3.73's and 4.10's. 3.73's would be a step up and 4.10's will really show you where your money went.

Other than that if you've got a manual I suggest a short throw shifter, possibly a Hurst Comp/Plus.

If you didn't get pony package then you should look into a set of sway bars whether they're GT take-offs or aftermarket they'll make a huge difference. New springs are a popular choice when it comes to suspension as well.

What are your long term goals? do you plan on going turbo or supercharged eventually? if so, i would hold off on the cold air intake but get a tuner, also buying a 8.8 rear end with a set of gears of your choice already installed. If I knew i was going to have gone turbo i could have saved almost a grand in mods that i dont use anymore
