Default Identifying Differantial type in a 2007 V6 Mustang Convertible

I was under the impression that the mustang comes with an open style rear differential, but when I was at the Ford Dealership where I purchased my car, the performance parts manager claimed my car has a limited slip type differential. I have been reading about the t-lok differential and I would like to find out if I have one in my car or not. Can you tell if it is limited slip by the old method of jacking both wheels off the ground and if you spin one, and the other turns in the same direction it means you have a limited slip, or will this not work with a Ford differential like I used to use when checking GM type of differentials.

Any help would be most appreciated as if it is an open rear, I want to change it to a posi before the winter.

Yes you can do that. If they spin the same direction, you have a T-lok. However, to my knowledge, no V6 came stock with a limited slip diff.

Thanks stlwagon... I believe you are correct with what you said about a V6 coming stock with a t-lok. I think that possibly the parts manager at my dealer has been sniffing too much differential fluid... But I will jack up the beast and see what the tale of the tape shows when I spin the wheel.

Thanks for your answer.... it is most appreciated.

It was never offered as an option on the V6 .... so unless someone took it upon themselves to upgrade, it's an open rear

Thanks Graypony... I was under that impression that it was never offered as an option on with the V6. I think the parts manager at my dealership is on crack... LOL. Well.. gives me something else to add to my bucket list.. .a T-lok and a new set of gears. Might as well change out the gears at the same time.

Will save my pennies as it will be a while before I can afford a thousand dollar upgrade....

Thanks again for your response...
