What is it?

Hey all,
Had my windshield replaced today, took a baseball sized rock thru it on the Mass Pike yesterday. Talk about scary! Yowsa!

Anyways, now with the new winshield when walking up to the car and looking in to slot where the VIN is I can see the under-dash insulation. Now I don't know if this was there before or not, maybe it was, matybe it was not. I'm going to be headed to a local dealer soon to see others on the lot. It sure doesn't look right, thats for sure! I did question the installer about it and he said he didn't think anything was there. I did remember him digging under the cowl and that struck me as odd, so once he left I removed the drivers side cowl (passenger side has the cabin air filter, this area) and found this thing just laying there. Now I don't see how in any way shape or form this could be related, but I have no idea what this thing is, couldn't find a place for it anywhere. Again, this was under the cowl, no way it could have just "fell" in there or anything. Any ideas?

I think it's part of your flux capacitor

Well that explains why my economy has been so bad, no wait, that would be because of my foot!

Waiting on my 8.8 to be delivered now, they called yesterday and said 2-4p today, woohoo!

Are you or is anyone else near their/a car that can go look at the VIN area and see if they can see insulation? Here's what mines looking like now, sure as heck doesn't look right!
