Default 2007 V6 What Can I Do To It

Hey everyone,

Im new around here and would like some opinions from everyone. Last month I got a 2007 V6 that Iv been wanting forever and so far have just put stripes, hood scoop, and side window louvers on it. I am looking to get dual exhaust, a CAI, and new wheels/rims. I know this is very generalized but what is the best way to go about all this? Should I order a GT bumper and go with some flowmasters for the exhaust or would it be better to just work with the V6 bumper. In terms of the CAI is there anything else I need to go with it to make everything more efficent? And for the wheels/rims the car is Vista Blue with White 2 8" and 1/4" stripes. Is there anything else I can do to the car to give it that extra bang if I have bout $2-3k to put into it? Any help would be appreciated.

Ryan

I just ordered a Tuner CAI combo that I have heard from a lot of people is the best value.05-08 Mustang V6 C&L Intake and Xcalibrator 3 COMBO 05-06 Mustang V6 C&L Intake and Xcalibrator 2 COMBO [CNLX3V6COMBO] - $625.00 : Bamachips, The Mustang Tuning Source

For around a grand or a little more you can get a 8.8 gt rear axle and 4.10 gears. That will get you movin! Not too sure on the exhaust. I have the chrome tail light trim and the sequential tail lights and I love them! A lot of people on here have them and really think it adds to the car.

The Chrome tail light trim is a very nice addition to your Mustang. After installing mine it made me wonder why ther was not a trim piece there in the first place. I consider it the piece of trim that should have come with the car in the first place.

I say the first thing you should get is a tuner with costum tunes.

Ordered mine and now waiting for it to come.

Congrats on the new car! As far as mods your possibilities are endless..... Best thing to do is look at alot of cars and talk to their owners. That will help you decide what direction you want to go.. Of all the cars on here very few of them are exactly the same.

i agree. best thing is to see what others have done to their rides and figure out what direction you want to take. there are lots of things to do and choose from so make sure you do your research so that you dont have to spend money twice on the same mod. CAI, custom tune, exhaust is the foundation of where to begin modding performance wise. good luck.

Through the end of July, AmericanMuscle, one of our sponsors, has discounted the V6 Steeda CAI/SCT XCal3 combo for $575.

RPMOutlet.com all the way! They have a great package with your choice of SCT or Diablosport tuner and your choice of 3 different CAI's I bought this for 499.99 bucks, free shipping never looked back, added mpg's, noticeable hp boost, and makes this kick ass intake sound . Or another great option is vmptuning.com. For 599.99 you get an SCT Tuner, Great new intake, and a GT takeoff muffler, dyno proven gains of 26 hp+. These are GREAT options, I personally would advise the Rpmoutlet.com because I bought that and have $100 which I am using to try to find a good muffler....which is actually harder than it seems....

I agree with what everyone is saying... I would go with the tuner first... and if you can afford, go with the tuner and the CAI as a combo. You will need the tuner if you change gears down the road to get the speedometer adjusted ... and you can then read and delete any check engine codes that might pop up in the futer also...

My experience has been with the SCT tuners and Bama Chips has been excellent. He has great tunes and excellent service.... He will not leave you hanging down the pike and you don't have to purchase your future upgrades from him... such as the CAI etc.. but he will provide you with the new custom tunes to cover any mods you do to the car.

Those are my two cents..... LOL.... I would do the exhaust and then the gears and put in a T-Lok.... V-6's were not offered in any way shape or form with a T-lok or as it is known a Posi or Limited Slip. Look at your build plate on your drivers door and you will see the infamous BG under the bottom line below the heading Axle... As I was told.. unless the previous owner changed to a T-lock.. you have an open rear.. and you will just end up spinning one tire ... You need a T-lok so you get the power to the ground. You can get a complete 8.8" axle with t-lok and 4.10 gears for around a grand... A T-lok for your 7.5 will cost around $199 and the gears around $300 with the shims, bearings and all the other little goodies you need. You can figure about $300 to $400 for installation of either... unless of course you can do it yourself. It is not a project for a first timer... so be careful what you bite off, it may just bite back.. LOL

Good luck and lots of enjoyment with your new car.....

I got mine about 2 months ago and I have wanted a mustang since 5th grade. When i saw the s197 model, i fell in love. Anyway, everyone on this thread is pretty right on so far. 8.8 rear is a better bet if you plan on producing 300 plus hp in the future. If not, the tloc with gears will do just fine for around 200-400 bucks cheaper (depending on who installs it). I am all for getting as much power as I can without hurting the car. If you want to know how any of my future mods go, just PM me. The intake tuner combo will be arriving in less than a week.

Thanks for the info so far everyone. I went to the local ford today and spoke with a guy in the body shop who pulled a GT bumper and sold it to me for $100 bucks so he is repainting it and installing it this week so I can get my flowmasters put on.

Guess the next step is the Combo which I plan on buying in a few days and I am looking into the wheel/rim combos at the moment. Just can't decide if I want a chrome or black to contrast the Vista Blue with white stripes.

Sounds like you got a really sweet deal there.

I also have a new 2007 V6. I am in the same boat as you. Everything I did was pretty much under $2,000. I bidded and shopped wisely on ebay. I did things one step at a time.

18 inch konig crosshairs rims from www.wheelsdirectonline.com. I got them for $1,200 shipped and mounted with free tires. Free shipping too if you can wait 3-6 weeks. 225 tires up front, bigger in the back (agressive stance)

Chrome upper and lower grill $40

GT suspension kit for $43 on ebay! Includes GT front and rear sway bars, GT shocks and struts. Here is a vid about making a V6 better than a GT:

Project V6: The Story of the New Take Off Mustang - Stang TV Forums

Adjustable Panhard bar and camber bolts for $50.

Eibach pro-kit lowering springs $71

Chrome CCFL Halo lights, chrome front bumper, and clear back bumber lights $150.

Chrome tail light bezels $10

JBA single axleback $80

C&L Intake $92

Diablosport Predator ($263) They will write you free tunes, just post on their forums.

Pre cut Mustang window tint $25

Mustang 10" white stripes $35

Brushed aluminum dask kit (cheap sticker kind, but okay if you just want to cover the radio) $15

Stainless Steel Ebay headers $90

Secret is to bid last 7 seconds on ebay....

The very first thing you should do is just get a JBA or Borla single axle-back, they sound great. Don't worry about duals. Then get a prederator tuner. Actually get that first! Because the tuner has stock airbox tunes that are fun to use.. Then get the intake I guess and have diablo sport write you some tunes.

chrome is ghetto and black wound't look good on that color blue. Check out a color called Black Opal. It's like a gunmetal chrome. Very unique and will turn a lot of heads.

::: Lowest Prices & FREE SHIPPING!! ::: on Konig Crosshairs wheels!

***** christ, I see they just lowered their price to $804; 4 rims, 4 tires, free shipping...

To be honest, I rather do performance mods over appearance. The first. and possibly last, appearance mod for me will be tinting my windows. And that is more because it is practical. And of course they will be to legal standards.
