they have it so nice you cant hardly feel it shift. which is nice, unless you want to crank it up. the v6 is great till it shifts, then it just feels whimpy. in the old days you could rebuild the valve body, anyone have any tricks for the new cars?

I don't much about the roush tuner, but most people here use SCT and maybe diablosports. I'd say go with those. It comes with 3 canned tunes but if you want more out of it buy it from Bamachips or Brenspeed or the guy I bought it from. They will give you 3 tunes for free wen you buy the tuner from them and I believe they are better than the canned ones.
Before you act, I suggest you wait on the response of a more experienced member.

i checked out the link you posted and i kinda see what your saying. i allmost think the v6 tech forum administrator should have a thread right on top to help out all the people new to the new cars. sounds like that should be the very first mod anyone should get if they are gonna play around changing other stuff. i`m seeing this is a whole new ballgame than the old 289. ya, i`ll wait a little bit and hear more about all this, at the same time saving up for the tuner. the one in the link says it does a bunch of stuff and comes with 1 custom tune. has anyone that has one of these things got the auto trans to shift harder?

I used the "canned" Diablosport 93 octane tune with firm shifting, and under full throttle acceleration, it will chirp the tire (bummer haven't gotten a rear end yet) With a posi and some shorter gears it will be wicked. Don't be alarmed though when it doesn't feel much different under normal driving contitions. The program only makes it shift hard when you really flog it. It is kinda nice. You don't have all the jerkiness assosiated with the old fashioned shift kits that shakes your fillings out when you drive to church, but when you stomp it, it really grabs.
you can get a cold air and tune set-up from Bama Chips,,,that will give you a harder shift and more HP,,,a good place to deal with and not to expensive,,good for basic V6 ponies and beyond
very cool. thanks for the links. i`m starting to see how the tune things work now, and for sure thats a item i`ll want pretty soon. i didnt know they will double as a code scanner too, so i wont waste the money on that now. this is a great place to learn from others.. stang 15,000, tuners say 400.00, learning from others, priceless...

Yeah, the stock V6 kinda feels like a Ford Taurus when it's stock. I use the Bamachips 91 Race Tune in mine and it bounces my head off the headrest and chirps the tires on the 2nd and 3rd shifts if I don't keep my head back when I stomp on it. The tuner and tune is absolutely the first mod anyone should do. Do a search on the forums and you'll find gobs of info and reviews of all the various custom tunes folks are running here.

I just got a Superchips tuner on Ebay for $100. It's the discontinued 1755 model. It isn't the best tuner on the market, but it definitely made my shifting better in my auto. You can really feel it, and even my wife loves the new feel.
The guy I bought it from is listing them at $149 OBO. I offered $100, and he accepted. Very good service and I got the tuner in less than a week ... well worth $100.
Here's the link to the seller on Ebay. Just make sure you get the Mustang tuner, because he has several different models.
