I called Evolution Performance this morning to order a set of Ford Racing 4.10's for my 7.5" and I was told that Ford Racing isn't making them anymore. So anyway, I still want 4.10's so whats another good brand to go with? I'd like something that will have as little or no whine as possible. If I could i'd like to keep the car sounding stock in that respect.
So anyways, what are some good brands for gears and where can I find some good deals on them?

FRPP, Motive and Richmond are the only three i've heard of and FRPP is the only one i've heard of thats any good. Motive are notorious for making tons of noise and I haven't heard anything about Richmond.

just some great words of advice. I was in in your position when I wanted 4.10 gears. I wanted ford racing and I found out they no longer make them for the 7.5 rear end. So I went with motive, with ford trac loc, with the gear oil. The price to install the gears will be a bit pricey unless you know how to do it yourself. REMEMBER....with one wrong gear install you are going to have to do it all over again and then your at the price of a gt 8.8 4.10 takeoff with....you guessed it....ford racing gears. I bought motive and I wished I had just saved the money to get the take off. Also, with a takeofff, there is no whine period.

As far as I know the GT take-off rear ends come with Ford OEM gears, not Ford Racing. FRPP is a separate company from Ford so saying that Ford Racing gears are the same as OEM Ford gears is like saying that Roush springs and Eibach springs are the same thing. They may be equal, but they're different.
With a good install and proper break-in, regardless of gear brand, there shouldn't be any whine. I just want the best gears and the smallest chance that there will be any whine. Even if I bought the 8.8" i'd still have someone else install it and it'd cost me a lot more.

U.S. Gear Corporation. They manufacture the OEM's for Ford, GM & Chrysler. Kinda like when Motive handled the manufacturing for FRPP for whatever time period. OR, just get Ford OEM gears, same difference.
Actually, with the 8.8 it is so easy to install the rear end. All it is, is just a couple of bolts and its on. Just have someone help you put those in. Also, I order my rear end takeoff with ford racing gears and not oem ford gears. I love them!!! Sweet!

I dont know how many times I have to repeat this: I dont feel comfortable removing major parts of my car (ie: the rear end). If I bought a take-off 8.8, which i'm not going to, i'd have someone else install it.
I already have the tlock and master bearing kit sitting in my closet waiting. I've taken a $150 hit on the first set of gears I ordered because the company sent me the wrong ones and wouldn't give me a refund. I had to sell those gears and didn't get nearly enough to make up the difference. I refuse to lose any more money trying to sell things and it would only add fuel to the fire if I spent even MORE money buying an 8.8.
With that being said... I've seen a few people with Richmond gears. Are they any good?

ok....no need to get offended. Just make sure you buy the modified differential pin because the stock pin wont fit 4.10 gears on the 7.5 rear end because the 4.10 gear is a lot thicker than the stock 3.31. Make sure you look into that before you go for the install. That was one mistake that I made when I tried to get 4.10s installed in my 7.5 rear end. Good luck!

oh excuse me..... its called a modified differential cross shaft if you put 4.10 gears on or high. This will be needed because the pin wont clear the gear properly.

If I were to buy the 8.8 with the 4.10s and T-loc, would there be any chance of me being able to sell the 7.5 with stock gears? The car has less than 2500 miles on it.
