Default Fuel economy contraptions

The EPA ran testing on a large number of add-ons claiming to raise fuel economy:

Gas Saving and Emission Reduction Devices Evaluation | Cars and Light Trucks | US EPA

Maybe this will cut down on the Turbonator threads here...

I don't see the Fitch Fuel Catalyst listed.

Mark, do you still have that thing on your car, and how's it working out?

I had to remove the Fitch when I changed fuel rails. I plan to reinstall at some point. I got a consistent 2mpg improvement with it in. Noticed immediately when I pulled it out.

Did you adjust your tunes at all for the Fitch? I know it says it gives it a couple point boost, but I don't know if would throw my 89 tune in when full of 87.

From what I understand of the system, you don't need a tune. It makes the fuel better so it is like running a 89 octane fuel on 87 octane tune.

I guess I chose my words poolry. I was asking STL....Did he modify his tune to account for the 2 point increase the Fitch supposedly gives you? I.E. did he fill with 91 and run his 93 tune?

I'm sure there are cases where it's worked but don't think it's a magical device.

I've seen both on the tornado ... some love it, and some swear it's a scam. It's to the point that I may get it for my wife's car just to test myself. It's not expensive, and it'll ease my mind to know.

I'm glad to hear the Fitch system works, because I was getting ready to buy it.
