It doesn't look like I'm going to get to be able to get to a track to find out for real what I can run with my car, so anyone with a like mods who has run there's where should I be right now as far as times go. I have a K&N Cai, 93 octane predator tune, and pypes true dual exhaust. Automatic with stock rear end. Can it get below 15's with the stock gears? 14.9 or so?
With a change to a brenspeed or bamchips custom tune and 16" wheels you should be doing around 90-92mph at the 1/4 mile at 5000ft. Faster at sea level. With the predator canned tune and the 18" wheels you'll be going slower than that. That's a lot wheel to get moving and the tune isn't as good. I'd guess you'd be in mid to high 16's timewise.

hey man, instead of the vortech id check into the x charger, i just got my kit in 2 days ago, and i was amazed at how complete the kit is. even gave me a radiator hose, havent found where i change it in the instructions, but its there. and im not sure about with vortech but ive had so much support from dave at explorer express that its got me reffering anybody whos even considering supercharging their 4.0
Yeah I like the x chargers also, but I picked this High output vortech that had never even been installed on a car for $1800 on CL. The complete HO kit with aftercooler ect. I couldn't pass it up, and in the end, once installed the hp gains will be fairly close to the x charger. The X charger kicks in earlier and at lower rpm's I hear, but as far as dyno #'s they are pretty close as far as I can tell. And for the money that I paid, I couldn't pass it up. I will be doing my install in Oct when I have a week off from work. (again saving money, doing it myself) wish me luck.

I don't dissagree with you about the smaller wheels being better for drag racing, but dude, these cars go faster than high 16's STOCK and my overall tire height hasn't changed from stock. So you are tryin to tell me that with the tune/cai and dual exhaust I will run slower than stock because of the added weight of the wheels? I read on modified mustangs last month they were trying to get a basic GT into the 12's with just bolt on's and changing wheels only gave them 2 tenths (still, that is pretty good improvement for just swaping wheels) so I have a hard time believing that my car is as slow as your estimate. No real way to tell I guss till I can take it to the track so most of this is desktop dyno'ing anyway.
It's hard for me to judge being up here in Colorado where everything runs slower (air isn't as dense). Up here a bone stock V6 only does mid 80's mph in the 1/4 and the GT barely breaks the century mark 100-105mph in the 1/4. When I went out to Palm Springs once I thought I had a different car. Lot more power down there where the air is thicker. There's an NHRA (I think that's the right acronym) table somewhere on the www that calculates for different altitudes.

i had the same mods as you and i ran a 14.9, could of ran a 14.8 if i had done a real burnout but the tread was getting too low, but sea level does matter, im guessing your going to run between a 14.9 and 15.3, if your too high above sea level then 16's is accurate, it sucks being above sea level by thousands of feet because you could have a 10 second car that runs 12s where you are.

One advantage is it affects the little 1.6-2.5 liter Honda and Toyota ricer cars even worse.
