Unhappy 2005 V6 Mustang Help

I recently bought a 2005 Mustang and its been running very well. Just recently the check engine light has come on, and the O/D Off, light has been flashing on and off. But the biggest problem is when i shift from park to reverse, it seems to jerk, shake the whole car. Would that be the transmission? What should i do to fix it?

If you haven't done any modifications to the car (intake, etc) then i'd say what you should do is take the car to the dealer and have them investigate that check engine light. While they're there they can check out your tranny issues too.

Keep in mind that the stealership will charge you $100+ just to read the code ($95 an hour labor rate in my area).

Autozone will do it for free. However, if you do have to have the dealer work on it anyway, they will still have to run their own diagnostic and charge you the $100 either way...

I may be wrong, so someone with current info should correct me...

If it's an 06 or newer, it's warranty work and won't cost a thing.

Oops, didn't see that. I assume then that it was orginally sold Aug or earlier. If Sept - Dec it still has a little left.

The Warranty expired 2 months ago.
We have a reader that checks the engine light, but may still have to take it to the dealership. We recently changed the O/D cancel, fuse and it seemed to have fixed the problem for a day. Now its back and seems to do the same thing. We think its a sensor but have no clue which one. If its something easy were really not wanting to take it in just for something rly easy and have to pay a couple $100 for something so simple.

Here's what the codes are. Cut and pasting changed colors and font. Gonna have to think about this for a bit.

P0135 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
P0141 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
P0155 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
P0161 O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit
P0443 Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit
P0446 Evaporative Emission System Vent Control Circuit
P0743 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical
P0755 Shift Solenoid "B"

P0760 Shift Solenoid "C"

P0765 Shift Solenoid "D"

P0962 Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Control Circuit Low

P0966 Pressure Control Solenoid "B" Control Circuit Low

P0970 Pressure Control Solenoid "C" Control Circuit Low

Couple of quick questions on this. Have you been running any strange gas or fuel additives? Are you running a CAI without a tune? Have you checked for exhaust leaks cooking your tranny or any electrical running to it? Have you recently had exhaust pipe work done?

Just at a wild guess from a quick look at the codes thrown. It looks like either a harness plug is loose in your electrical or your exhaust temps are a lot higher than they should be and a wiring harness to the tranny got cooked.

Go to the O2 sensor just below your cat and trace the wires up. Go to the wiring harness to your tranny and trace it up. See if they meet somewhere and look for a loose connection or something in that area first.

I think the O2 sensor is located just behind the catalytic converter (the exhaust side as opposed to engine side) on the drivers side exhaust pipe and I have no idea where the harness is on the transmission. You'll have to crawl underneath and take a look. Been a few months since I've been underneath mine and I can't picture it in my head. Unless you have a smart 3 yr old you can shove under the car (ahem...politely ask to crawl under) to look for you, you'll have to put the front end up on ramps or ask a friend to smack your feet with a sledgehammer while your lying beside the car to help wedge you under. Make sure you disconnect the battery before you try reseating any plugs on harnesses.

Ok thanks for all the info. We'll be working on it today and see what we come up with. We think it has something to do with what uve been sayin. Its rly strange cause sometimes it acts weird, like not shifting, or having O/D, then sometimes it shifts but doesnt have O/D, and then theres sometimes it works just fine. It may have something to do with the RPM's, so we'll be checking that out later. Thanks for all the Help, Greatly appreciated. Ill keep u posted on how it goes, and keep ur fingers crossed, that this is the problem. Thanks, I'll post the results tonight, talk to you then.
