+1 on the battery. Get a decent brand. Mine has been going for 3 1/2 years on the original battery so whatever they're doing for you is bull ****.
Gauge cluster might reset itself if you pull the entire thing and unplug/replug it, but it seems to me that the cluster is supposed to reset itself every time you start the car, thats why the needles fly back to the zero position when you start it. I had a similar problem with my gas gauge awhile back where empty was at the 1/2 mark and full was at like 4 o'clock on the gauge. I started the car and turned it off a few times until it straightened out and since then no more problems.
