I've dropped 6k into my 2007 Mustang 4.0. K&N Air Intake, BBK Throttle Body, JBA Headers, JBA Exhaust, ASB underdrive pulley, JBA power cables, Steeda short shifter, 18" Cobra R replica wheels, with 275/35's..
and today, at the dealership, getting my handbrake replaced, rather picking up the car...we ended up talking a guy down to trading the car straight up for an 02 Z28.
My car has 28,000 miles. Doesn't have ABS, or anything like that.
The Z28 has 32,000 miles, leather, T-Tops, 6 speed, Monsoon system. Basically, the works.
And for some reason, I told them I needed some time to think about it.
I know it's a Mustang forum, so obviously people will say stick with the Mustang, but I figured, what do you guys think? Has anyone heard of any knocks on the LS1's, beside the obvious of gas?
I would say stay with the Mustang. The quality of the 2005+ Mustang is going to be greater than the Camaro and the styling is better. In the long run the work you put into the Mustang will be much more enjoyable. And think about it. There is a reason that they want to get your Mustang. It will be easier for them to sell. Anniversary badges mean little.

man thats a good deal ive always wanted a z28 camaro with that body style i was about to get one till i test drove the mustang with insurance and gas being a factor i went with the 4.0 tho chevy parts are usally cheaper than fords and the z is just faster if i would of goten the v8 and took the pinch on gas an insurance i rather have a chevy
Tough decision if you ask me.Sizable gain in power.I looked into some of those and nearly did that, but what held me back was that they are more a pain in the butt to work on.The mustang is soo easy to work on.
I would never trade my Mustang with Camaro, and with the 6k you put on that 4.0 you would be way faster than the Z28. Besides, new Mustangs will get so much attention on street (i always do) than Camaros. Its still up to you but think about it really good so you dont regret it when the deal is done and you hand you Mustang keys to them
I cant tell you yea or nay but just make sure there isnt anything wrong with the other car if you do decide, you dont want to end up trading it and then realize it needs some big money work.
The car is 5 YEARS OLDER then the Mustang! That camaro will get ZERO! I REPEAT ZERO looks when the new Camaros get out on the road. People will actually laugh and you'll really have buyers remorse big time! Your making a HUGE mistake if you trade. The salesman will be to the bank!!! This will be you for a long long time.
If they want to give you 3 or 4 grand and the Camaro I'd say take it if not think you are getting the short end of the deal financially.
Used s197's are good resales, a '02 Camaro is a tougher sell for a dealer. Not in as much demand, not as practical. Dealer is not going to do it for no gain.

i think you should drive and compare the two. my wife loves both cars but the interior of the camaro fits her better and she feels more comfortable racing the camaro. for some reason the mustang makes her insecure about racing it. me on the other hand, i'm all mustang, lol . for me when i line up with some-one, my goal is to shut them down. ford or chevy, at the line we are all rivals.
