Default help me make some final decisons |(bamachips)

Ok so ive made my decsion on getting a jlt intake and sct 3 tuner from bamachips but as for the tunes i have some questions. i want to get 1 87octane tune and 2 93. i want one 87 to be like a safe tune that will get me the best efficent gas mileage and one 93 to be race and one to be efficent performance. they have the tunes listed performance torque and race. ive read thru there site about the tunes but still have questions. i know alot of people on here have used bamachips so any advice will be appreciated

also i cant seem to find the link for bama's v6 jlt+sct tuner combo anymore tho im sure i have been to it so links will be helpfull to

I went with their recommendations; an 87 performance, a 93 torque, and a 93 performance. I haven't received it yet but I expect that the 93 torque is the only one I will actually use.

I have the FRPP tune on my car now but Doug at BamaChips assures me that his 93 torque tune will improve the around town driveability of my car over the FRPP tune. We shall see.

I tried just about all of bama's tunes. I was most impressed with the 93 Octane Race Tune. Once I switched to it I never used the others
You might want to call Doug or email him to see if he is still selling the JLT Kit. I looked for it a few weeks ago to see what it was going for so I would know about what to sell my used one for (sold) and I couldn't find it on his site either.

I had the 87 performance, 91 performance, and 91 torque tunes on my V6. Eventually I ran the 91 torque most of the time, including autocross, the 91 performance at the drag races, and the 87, after testing at the drags, pretty much never. I didn't find any significant mileage differences among the four (including stock), so I can't say one or another of them would give better mileage. Someone else is likely to have had a different experience.

When I changed the Tuner to the new car, I got 91 race tune instead of 87 anything. If I want to use lower octane fuel, I can return to stock. That's the lesson I learned in the V6. Once again, someone else may have had a different experience and lesson.

I don't do many miles in a month (maybe 300 or so) so the difference in price of fuel doesn't affect me like it might affect high-miler users.

Don't bother with the 91 performance tune. You lose gobs of torque over the race tune.

Torque tune: Lots of low end torque. Good for daily driving if most of your driving is in town.

Performance tune: Gives you high end power at the expense of low end torque. Unless you spend all your time driving around near redline, it isn't worth it. Even with the high end power, it still has a lot less 'get up and go' compared to the race tune. Could be considered an economy tune.

Race tune: Gives you the best of both other tunes. Gives you plenty of torque and power throughout the rpm range. It's the best tune if you do a mix of town and highway driving. Can easily accelerate and pass cars climbing 11,000 ft mountain passes and doesn't eat into your gas mileage on the highway like the torque tune.

Not sure if the torque or race tune is faster at the track (I would assume the torque might have a slight edge, but it's iffy). The beginning of this month was the last event at the track before it shut down for the winter. I can't go again till May of next year here when it opens up again.

I'm getting 87 performance, 93 torque, and 93 race. Seems reasonable if I ever want to go back to the 87(IF I EVER). I'm mostly going to do torque though.

Sounds like the perfect order. I have the same in my tuner except all the 93's are 91's here.

I have the 89 performance 89 torque and 93 race. 93 race is by far the best out of these 3. Decent gas millage too when i can control myself

Nope dont buy the V8 CAI for the V6 it wont work, the throttle body for V6 is rounded but for V8 is oval shape so it wont fit, buy the one for V6 only
