Default Difference between the CA Spec XCharger and others

Just looking at the vaunted Xchargers over at ExplorerExpress and I had my eye on the XS5556L5/3.0 model (cheapest ). It's listed as California spec and I assume that means something bad but it doesn't distinguish. What kind of power gains are these supposed to make anyway? If I do spend a few grand for a supercharger I'd like to surpass the GTs power even if it's only by a little. Any input would be welcome.

Never mind I see it now, the CA models use the stock airbox.

Could you use the 3.0 Xcharger on the 4.0 engine? And if you could would you see as good of gains?

What is a 3.0 Xcharger??? Do you mean the Xcharger with the 3.0 pulley?

I just copied the model off the site, I assume the 3.0 is the pulley size.

yes its the pulley size... being the stock air box youll have a more restricted air flow

Ca kit uses a GT air box. HiPo kit uses a CAI with K&N filter.

Get the HiPo kit and get the 2.8 pulley for more boost.

The Calif spec ,I believe,has the enclosed airbox because of cali smog requirements. I imagine that doesnt give you as much HP as the other model.
I have the one with the 2.8 pulley and open air box. I can usually come out ahead when challening a GT. I have run in the high 13's afew times but mostly in the 14.2 range,but that is at 2500' and on hot days with a density altitude of 5400' . That does make a difference sad to say.

they should say "Results may Vary according to altitude and other conditions".
