id say fortunately you do have an automatic trans. normally with the auto, when you run any kinda forced induction..the car will simply not loose as much boost pressure when you shift b/c the auto computer shifts gears a lot quicker then you can clutch, shift and go. believe it or not its a blessing.
as for the s/c or t/c ?, i would go s/c for these reasons, instant power(no time to spool up) and a lot of the times with a safe tune it puts out even more power(unless you go twin turbo) its also most of the time an easier/ cheaper install. But first things first, get a good tuner(sct, diablo...) ive got the livewire, pics on my profile if ya wanna take a look

Idont know if you have your heart set on the Vortec but I think if its for show n go you might want to check out the xcharger.
one ,it looks great when you open the hood,no doubt its a supercharged car.
Two, its less expensive and easy to install.
Granted its not intercooled and thats a big negative, but it looks sweet and sounds even better.
Pretty good performance also.
Best for me so far is 13.889 @07 mph. Thats at 2500' elevation and 5400 density altitude...all contributing factors.
But,,it does impress

Superchargers give off a great whine! check out some videos on youtube. Street legal TV transforms a v6 s197 and supercharges it, it sounds awesome! and yes it looks awesome when you open the hood.

Really? Care to explain? I always was under the impression that a turbo will always make more horsepower then a supercharger lb. for lb. because a turbo runs off exhaust gases while a supercharger is belt riden. A vortech supercharger running 10 lbs of boost makes 313 rwhp and 286 torque on a performance tune. My single turbo makes 313 rwhp and 377 torque on an extremely safe tune on 8.3 psi and on a performance tune makes 335-340 rwhp and 400+ torque.

Mrjimmy ran a 13.8, i can run a 13.2 with full interior, subs in the trunk, tire, jack, everything. The car is also an automatic so it is impossible to launch, not to mention i still have the stock driveshaft, stock rear end which means one wheel peel and 3.31 gears.

After reading what i just wrote the post seems kinda harsh but really im just confused as to why a vortech supercharger is better?

^Not to mention that single large turbo's generally make more power than smaller dual turbo's...

go for the turbo more power less boost and for noise get a blow off valve u wont be able to hear any supercharger when u shift and it sounds meaner i think when u rev... turbo all the way!
