Default 4.10s Top Speed

I was wondering if the 4.10s on the v6 2005 take off top speed? Im not talking about theoretical top speed, im talking about like the v6 has a top speed of like about 115, but will the 4.10s take off from the 115?

the v6 doesnt have a top speed of 115, it is limited at 113 mph, with that limiter taken off you can go 140-150 but it is not safe because most v6s dont have the correct tires or an aftermarket driveshaft which has been known to fail at 120+

If you asking if putting in the 4.10s takes off the speed limiter then thats a no, putting in gears doesn't affect your computer unless you use a tuner to recalibrate the speedometer and then take off the speed limiter while you are in the process

The acceleration vs. top speed is always a fun debate when it comes to gears.

The thing is that your theoretical top speed is so high (well over 150, 160 mph) that at that point the aerodynamics of your car will actually prevent it from reaching its theoretical top speed.

So yes, 4.10's will lower your 'theoretical' top speed (the speed your car 'should' be going at the top of 5th gear with 4.10's) but you'll never reach that speed because of the aerodynamic limitations of the vehicle.

With that aside, where do you plan on driving 160mph+ anyway? Hopefully somewhere FAR away from the rest of us.

Any time you go lower with the gears you shave off higher end speeds. Going higher with gears will give you more top speed, but of course sacrifice your low speed acceleration. Since most cars(except sports cars and most trucks) generally already have high gears from the factory going lower is what most people do to get more stop light take off speed. 4.10s are relatively very low gears and will kill your gas mileage and increase your cruising speed rpms significantly if you use it as a daily driver or drive it a lot. 3.73s or even 3.90s would be much more reasonable for a driver. If it's a track car you can go even lower though.

Is your car an auto or a 5 speed?

With a 4.10 in the pumpkin you would get the following situations:

5 speed

172.86mph @ 6000rpm
74.9mph @ 2600rpm

Auto

165.56mph @ 6000rpm
74.5mph @ 2700rpm

The top speeds are of course based on you having a ton of HP. You need about 475rwhp to get to 175mph in a Mustang body. Your V-6 will probably top out at a little over 130mph if there were no limiter.

as long as it doesnt damage any lines or anything then you go to hit the gas and you dont go anywhere, your brakes would be fine and everything as long as nothing else is damaged

Video of "05mach1" dyno run driveshaft failure - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

it looks like a GT but its a v6 in this video
