Ok, so today while out driving my mustang (2008 with the 18" rims) I was stuck in a police traffic fiasco (they had a job to do and I'm sure it was stressfull) but the a-hole guy guiding traffic for my lane had me turn in a side lot...through a curb. I know the guy didn't see it sticking out or he would have let me go forward 2 feet to avoid it but he didn't and ran up on it. (he was surprised and I was pissed). In the end it is my fault BUT I can still be pissed about it. On to the problem. No rim damage or body issue but I do have a nice dime sized chunk missing from my side wall now. Checked it for leaking air and it is holding (for now).
Will I notice any issues in replacing just the right front tire? The car has 2400 miles on it so I don't imagine that I would but I wanted to get some input before heading off to the dealer (who, imagine this, has the cheapest price on the tire in my area!).
are you asking if there will be any problems , if you just change one of them ?
if so then no it will be fine .
you dont even have to get the same one as the other 3 tiers

I'm going with the same since I do want all of them to match (more of an aesthetic issue for me). And yes, that is what I'm asking...is the difference in remaining treadlife on the remaining tires going to make a balance or traction issue for me when I add a newer tire with a now longer tread life (mind you, we are only talking 2400 miles so I didn't imagine I would need to worry)
yes no need to worry, you will be fine but i would replace it , you dont want it to blow on the freeway doing 80mph

2400 miles of normal driving ain't that much wear on a tire.
You probably won't notice any differnce, but just to be safe, I would rotate the tires and put your best two remaining tires on the front, and use your new tire as your new drive tire (passenger rear) I know that that is the tire that gets worn fastest on my car
a new tire on one side and a worn one on the other can lead to pulling issues.
