Default BBK 70mm Throttle Body install

Has anyone installed one of these? If so, what problems did you have if any.
My install fried my ecu. BBk was no help. I still want to install it but I am afraid it will cost me another 1,000 dollars. Any insight or tip would be appreciated.

i know its not a v6, but my friends 07 gt had problems with a bbk throttle body as well. it put his car into limp mode, but luckily didnt fry his ecu like yours. he put the factory one back on and all has been well.

Well they do recommend you disconnect the battery before doing anything like this but to fry a PCM seems odd.

I really don't know. The speed shop I deal with said they will not even install BBK TB's because of all the problems they cause. the install is pretty easy and straight forward. The guys at my speed shop could not determine why this happened.

That was the one thing that everyone said not to do even though it says to it in the directions. It seems that the ford (mustang) ecu has problems with any changes. This was according to the Tech at the ford dealership where we had the ecu programmed.

Thanks, that happened to mine too. I will try the install again next week when it stops raining. If I have problems again then I am stuck with a $300 dollar paper weight.

Yes, they did. I am still waiting (hoping) to hear from someone who has actually installed one of these and their car ran afterwards.

So are you guys saying that the TB is worth it? I mean I was thinking about getting one, but damn I don't want anything on my new car getting fried... and could someone explain what the TB Spacer does? For another 100 bucks is it worth it??

A spacer does little to nothing for a fuel injected car. Save your money..

Default BBK TB finally fixed

Ok, here is the tale. The orignal problem was a loose wire at the TP sensor. When i removed it it broke (which I did not notice) then when I installed the TB it shorted and fried the ECU.
I reinstalled the BBK yesterday and had minor problems which turned out to be incorrect voltage. After adjusting the idle screw for correct voltage it now runs great. I am glad I had the diablo tuner because I was able to clear the trouble codes.
I am going to get on the dyno this week and see if there are any actual gains.
Life is good again.
