Default 2007 V6 : 3:73 gears...track lock..and burning out. :)

Alright so I have been working my ass off to save up for some upgrades to my ride...

The first question....
Should I just install 3:73 gears and traclock to my 7.5 axle, or upgrade to an 8.8 axle...
I don't plan on anything more than a tune, CAI, and other little mods...
Not going SC....not planning on anything more than 300RWHP

I need the cheapest/best route to take...also brand names on the best parts...
I want to order this Friday

My last question...
HOW THE HECK DO I BURNOUT IN PLACE
I've looked all over, and I'd rather not TRY it in my car untill I know the proper way to.
I'm talking about in a manual tranny 5 speed, 2007 v6
How to burnout in place and not go anywhere and roast the tires.

Thanks

no need to upgrade to the 8.8 you will be just fine with what you got. you won't be snapping any axles. trust me. i wouldn't blow your money on a intake just get a retune and modds depend on how much money you want to spend so if you give me a amount i might be able to help

I was thinking about sticking with my 7.5 rear, but why not spend an extra 300$ or so on a new 8.8 strong rear end just in case I want to go the nitrous, turbo, or super charger route I am starting to consider nitrous

For the burnout "heel-toe" the gas and brake - push both with the same foot. Its pretty rough on the clutch... I do it in my ranger sometimes because I'm young and careless. :/

I'm only 19 and I'm not into being too hard on my car. I was somewhat hard on my 95 saturn when i was 16

Okay you should definitly go with the 8.8 axle (it should have came stock with the v6) with 3.73 and tlok. You can get the complete set from New Take-Off - Mustang they have a good price on the completed axle and they have a good reputation. The tune and intake is also a must and the best combo is from bamachips.com. They are a little more expensive but the tunes they offer are the best outside of a custom dyno tune. Also an aluminium driveshaft might be a plus. They reduce your car's weight and the stock shaft is known to fail under high pressure or above 120 mph. Other then the tune and cai a good exhaust is the best bang for your buck. You can read the forums on options but they will add 10-15rwhp. Next would be suspension work, if you dont have the pony package, just upgrade to gt front and rear anti sway bars, you'll notice a nice change(newtakeoff has these also). Oh and sequential tail lights and rear window louvers add about 30rwhp and are the best mods available.

Nitrous is bad for your car, I would stay away from it. And instead of a s/c just install cams, adds about the same power and alot easier on the engine. Then add the s/c and see how much power you can get.

That's a matter of preference. There are a lot of guys out there running the 7.5" rear on forced induction vehicles with no problems. General rule of thumb is if you're not going f/i, nitrous or building the motor then the 7.5" will be fine. Adding the 8.8" over installing gears/tlock in your stock 7.5" can cost you over $300 more. Under 250rwhp I wouldn't even consider the axle breaking and even with every bolt-on imagineable the 4.0 will barely come close to 250 at the rears if it will at all.

Well Im a conservative man, I would much rather through out the extra dough earlier because Im sure we all know once we add a little to the car we start to want more and more and I would like to have the security of knowing I wont lose my axle. And I agree with the right tuning and proper use nitrous can be safe but alot of times it gets abused and Ive seen several end up blowing their engine or hurting themselves by throwing out that "harmless" bit of juice when they dont know how to manage it. I also dont like the idea of just throwing on a s/c without preparing the engine first. This little V6 of ours can be built up to be a very strong little engine n/a with just some time and patience and then when its safe you can add the s/c or turbo or whatever and get the max hp out of your money. Now this is just my opinion and everyone can have there on and I have respect for anyone who can get a good bit of power out of their car but I guess Im just a fan of getting the most out of just the engine and I dont have the money to risk destroying any part of my car.
