Cool timing belt or chain?

I have an 08 mustang V6,4.0.Does the motor have a timing chain or belt.If a belt, how many miles before it needs to be replaced?Thanks.Doug.

You have a timing belt and it's a good idea to replace them every 80k (that's on the safe side) but you definately don't want it to break while you're driving.

The 4.0 V6 has a jackshaft to drive the right and left camshaft timing chains. The jackshaft is driven by a jackshaft chain by the crankshaft.

No timing belt but three timing chains.

It's why changing heads and cams is not real popular with the 4.0 even though they're available and offer substantial power increases...2 chains on the front and 1 on the back. You have to pull the engine to access the rear chain.
