There's not much gain with a CAI without a tune.

The K&N does not require a tune, and will definitely help your car breath better with or without a tune. The MAF curve is only slightly thrown off with the K&N vs. the CAI kits that greatly enlarge the MAF housing which is what makes them need a tune. The K&N CAI can be tuned for however if you are trying to achieve maximum gains from it.

Well the K&N cai only gives you approximatly 8 rwhp which isnt much of the gain. Without a tune you wont notice much of a change. K&N reports that just the drop in filter will increase rwhp by about 7 so if your not gonna want to spend much money just go with the drop in.

It's a waste of money without a 91 or 93 octane tune.
