Exclamation 2005 V6 Electrical Issues- Please Help!!

I purchased an AeroForm V6 grill with fog lights, and a street scene wiring harness. I followed all instructions that came with the wiring harness except for the switch placement inside the car. Instead of putting the switch in the car, i cut the switch off of the harness and connected the wire directly to the wire in the factory headlight switch loom (red wire with a white stripe is what the instructions said i should connect the switch to). I'd figured the fog's would always be on and i wouldn't have to worry about a switch then. After re-connecting the terminal, everything seemed fine. the headlights and fog lights worked fine. i drove all day, no problems. turned all of the lights on at night and all seemed well. about 10 minutes after turning the lights on, everything went off. the headlights, fog lights, and driving lights went off and the engine died. I turned the light switch off and started the car. Car started fine, however if i try to turn on the headlights, driving lights, turn signals, or hazards the engine dies immediately. none of the bulbs will actually light, the engine just dies. i removed the entire harness (all wiring, relay, and fuse) but still the car will not work. no lights and the engine still dies. There is a loud clicking sound from under the hood when i turn on the headlight switch that was not previously there. PLEASE HELP ME. Anyone, please tell me what i've broken and how to fix it. thank you very much!!

That clicking sound comming from under the hood is probably a relay... i would try and locate which one it is comming from and try replacing it. Hope that helps

Can you have someone check under the hood to verify the location of the clicking sound? Most likely the headlight relay. I am guessing you have a grounded wire somewhere in the switch. Retrace your steps, you missed something.

pcfrisch, i will have someone take a look tomorrow as everything is closed on sunday. looking at it for a while today, it seems as if the clicking is comming from a disc on the front of the engine that slides in and out when i turn the lights on and off. it is on one of the pulleys for the belt. id guess part of the air conditioning?? im not sure though

When I installed my GT fog lamps I used the green/yellow wire on the back of the headlight switch. This enables the fog lamps only if the parking and/or headlights are on and disables the fogs if the parking and headlights are turned off.

Go get a test light and find out which wires on the back of that switch are supplying 12v+ when the parking/headlamps are on, as well as having someone stand by the hood while you flick the lights on and off to find that clicking noise. Most likely a fried relay.
