Default 07 Mustang & iPod

I am aware that in the 07's, there is a 1/8" jack in the center console for iPod plug in. Now, is all I do buy a 1/8" cable stereo cord and plug one end thru there and the other thru the iPod headphone jack?

Will this allow me to play my music from my iPod thru my Shaker 500? It won't charge, correct?

Yeah I think it is just like a several thousand dollar, 4.0L headphones.

Yeah all you need is a stereo cable with the 1/8th male jacks on each end. You can find them anywhere. I was lucky enough to find one like the picture below on clearance at target for about 6 bucks. The retractable cable is nice in the console since you don't have 5 extra feet (most that i found were 6 feet long). Also if you look there is a cigarette lighter/power outlet in the console also. So in my 07' I plug the mp3 player into the power outlet and the 1/8in. jack. It works great!

Thanks!

Now do I have to use my iPod to control everything or will it go through the Shaker system?

You will need to use the iPod to control selection, on/off, and both the car and iPod will control the volume. Use the "AUX" selection on the Shaker 500.

I think there may be an ipod accessory for the system if i remember right. It was in the forums here somewhere but it was pretty pricey i think. I don't have an ipod so i'm stuck either way. Hope that info helps some.

Agreed - unless you want to keep the Shaker audio system, it might be cheaper to swap out the head unit with an aftermarket. Alpine has some awesome head units that sound absolutely amazing. Mine actually included the ipod cable which plugs into the bottom of your ipod so you can control it from the deck.

Ive found that its easier to keep the ipod in the cup holder, than use a head unit to control and ipod. In my other car, its a pain to click through 200 some artists to find a specific song!! Make a playlist, or put that bad boy on shuffle!!

I plug my Ipod into the jack as well as the charger adapert in the console. Close the lid so that there is only about 2" of cable comming out and let the Ipod (nano) sit just behind the cup holder section/ forwaed of my armrest. I find I can control it without issue by touch, and it is out of the way of most everything else. My Myfi satelite radio is another issue though...

Why??? I use my ipod via cable (purchased at radio shack $5) with my Shaker 1000 and it sounds as good as the cd's. I think an ipod is easy enough to navigate through. What's the problem?
