Default ok i took the diablo plunge

Ok so after days and days and days of reading and more reading, then going to shops and getting prices I finally got a pretty good offer earlier tonight and drove down to the shop. Was going in to buy the diablo, dyno tuned and all. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO what happens next.


They offer to stay late and do the work, pull the car in get it all hooked up as i pace back and forth from my nerves on end for doing this!!!!! They do the hook ups, safety checks and get started. My first ever dyno run gives me these numbers

190hp 202tq at the wheels, no tune yet

there was a spike of 195hp but not sure what that means

then he gets ready to start working on the diablo and what happens????? IT REFUSES to connect to the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

how does the story end

I sit here with no diablo and no tunes lol!!!!!!!

but i figured you guys might want to comment on the first dyno run

mods are roush cai and custom dual hpipe

What a total bummer...... I had no such bad luck with my "little Devil" and noticed instant gratification after my first tune insall. I have heard that the support for other than 05 or 06 has been difficult, and many customers couldn't use their diablosport to tune their 07's (even though it is said to support such a car) My suggestion it to call them at Diablosport and get them hot on it. I am sure that they will be glad to help you utilize your new toy to bring your car to life. I have talked to the techs there and they all seem very helpfull and willing to figure out whetever you have probs with. Good luck. I mean the next best option it sell it, and buy another brand and see what kind of luck you have, but that will mean a pretty good money loss, so you may as well work with what youve got right? Hope you get a tune loaded soon and we can see the numbers. Those stock numbers are pretty good! I bet with a tune you will be seein 230 or so.... We will see.

BTW? Was it a new Diablosport, maybe it still is "connected" to another car? Get one from the factory and then take it in to the shop for your dyno run. I bet you won't have any pobs that way? Good luck.

Well this was surposed to be a brand new unit at the shop, he only had one left, he crossed check the part number to make sure it was for the v6 model. I have not had to purchase it because it didn't work and he already did the dyno base line so he didn't charge me for that either yet. all and all i think it is a good deal for the diablo tuner + dyno runs and tunes for under 500.00. i have been doing more research on the sct vs diablo and it is a fairly ranged topic sorta like ford vs chevy topics. but i did read one guy say he got more performance out of the sct tuner vs a diable he owned first.

I am surposed to call him and the fact he was willing to stay late and try to get the tuner working sorta makes me want to respect that attempt and stick with the diablo , but based on the price for the unit and custom tune/dyno for the sct i may change my mind, we'll have to wait to see what happens at 9am.

and isn't going from the 190 to 230 a bit on the high side? i have heard like 15-20hp with a tune, i mean i won't complaign as from what i have been reading if i get close to 220 hp or above with just cai and exhaust + tune that is VERY GOOD and lucky

also the dyno showed 190hp with a spike of 195 what does that mean, cause he said the real reading is the 190 but i see sites showing the spiked reading as the hp they quote?

here is a pic of the start of the first run. i didn't get a pic of the after cause i have never witnessed this and was askin questions and it wasn't long after i took the pic that we found out the computers refused to talk to one another

You sort of answered your own question in your question to me.... yes 40 would be a HUGE gain for just a tune, but you have the exhaust and CAI as well, that havn't been tuned for (therefore you haven't even seen threir potential gains yet) so I wouldn't be supprised with a 30hp increase on your next pull, or even 40 (with luck) wich might yeild that 230 number I spoke of earlier. (I will admit that is a bit lofty,) but we can all dream can't we? Good luck, let us know how you go and what the #s are. I would stick with this person/and the diablo for now, sounds like a sweet deal.

Is that a vice-grip attached to your nice polished/chrome tips on your exhaust? Did it skull it?

ya know i just noticed that in the pic. i think it had something to protect it from scratching, i'll have to go take a look in a bit after i wake up. and my car stats

2008 auto
custum dual exhaust with custom hpipe
roush cai

i am looking at doing this tune and then some springs next and that will probably be it for awhile

i have been having fun the few times i went to the drag strip. and going to look into the tloc thing. but not having much luck on finding good information online or places to start my cost/labor research lol

Your car is an '08...did you buy new or pre-owned?

I really want to go for the new tune, but I'm such a coward when it comes to screwing with my warranty..(that's a big reason why I bought a new V6 and not a used GT) ....does'nt it void your warranties?

Also best of luck with your second try with the Diablo...keep us all posted!

well 2nd run us done pulled 198hp and 235tq the original from last night is not 190 but more like 183 I'll post up the dynis tonight

ok well i am confiused. i spent right at 500 for a tuner + dyno tune, goto the track tonight and not only do i not equal my best time i am .100 off of my best time before a tune. Now i didn't have the best of nights and maybe i need to learn to drive the car again at launch and so forth but i would have assumed that the tune and the 35tq and the slightly tighter shifting that i would atleast match or beat the 9.5 time i have had once.
here is a list of the runs, not my best by a long shot i had a bad night at the launch and even had only my 2nd redlight.

get the screamin demon coils with the msd wires and bosch +4 iridium plus and you will get the improvement your looking for, the numbers will show it at the track.

Well i ran tonight and ran it pretty hard, had two or three runs right at the 15.08 and on other close to that. tried to break into the 14's but got late in the day and the track cooled off
