Now that my supercharger is in I'm already looking ahead to my next major mod which will be new rear end gears and a Detroit locker. 3.73 gears see to be the norm and I've read that anything steaper isn't good for a boosted vehicle because I'll spend so much time in boost. But my driving style is usually to use a light touch so low RPM responsiveness is important to me. Do you think I'd be happier with 3.73 or 4.10?

How tall/wide of a tire are you going with? if it is the stock tire (27 inches tall) I don't think you'll be happy with the 4.10's because everyone I have asked about it says it is too much gear for normal freeway driving. If you have some big ole meats that are taller than stock, then it might not be as big of a problem because for the bigger tires, it decreases your rpms on the freeway. I have the same question, but have decided that becasue of how much tire I want to put in back, I won't have a problem with the 4.10's (I want 295/45/18's for the daily drivers, and some 305/45/18 drag radials for the fun stuff) which are about two inces taller than stock, making my car move like 6 inches farther forward for every rotation of the wheel. I am not sure of the mathmatical calculation to figure how this will effect my total rpms, but I am sure that it will decrease them enough that 4.10's won't seem crazy at 60 or even 70 mph. Wish me luck, as I do to you.
Bill.
A lot of people say that its 3.73 for a stick, 4.10 for an automatic but I contest that 4.10 is too much gear for either. Unless you plan on using it as a track-based vehicle then i'd really think hard before you put 4.10's in it. If its a daily driver then I advise you to forget about 4.10's altogether and get 3.73's or 3.55's.
I had the same dilemma before I got mine done and I can say that the 3.73's with a Ford Racing limited slip are just right for this car.

lol dude you have no love for the 4.10s. I have had long PM conversations about 4.10s with people who have that set up and they said they are really glad they did not go with 3.73 because of how much fun they are. One guy I talked to said he can pull on 05+ gts that are not modified and can easily pull on older model gts. This is right off the line of course. I had always planned on getting 3.73s but I am a sucker for getting shot back into the seat. that and when people get into my car that wanna be impressed...I will not disappoint. I am going to school full time and just got a job so i can mod my car more and pay for gas

If you're an automatic drag car 4.10's are the way to go, but if it's your daily driver, then going any steeper than 3.73's are going to start seriously shaving off your Mpg's it's all about how you're using your car.

3.73 vs. 4.10 is a matter of opinion. Your PM friends may prefer their 4.10's but I like my 3.73's. When I went to pick my car up after the installation I wondered if i'd want more after I felt the 3.73's. 2 minutes after leaving in the car I knew I had made the right decision for myself.
I prefer being able to cruise in my car as well as being able to take off quickly.
His question was regarding our opinion for a boosted vehicle with the assumption that he's putting down a considerably higher amount of horsepower and torque than your average intake/tuner 4.0. With that much power 4.10's can be a handful for your average driver, especially in less than desirable weather conditions. Such is the reasoning behind my recommendation.

I agree its mostly about the context. But your MPG will only decrease a lot if you are doing a lot of highway driving.
