Default 4.10:1 V6 numbers needed

(repost in this spot because i put it in the wrong other spot)
hey im thinking about getting the 4.10 T loc rear end.
those of you that have one, what is the shifting like? i have a hurst short throw.

what i need to know is
+ MPG estimates city and highway ( takeing it easy not treating every light as a tree )
+5th gear highway driveing at 65MPH what rpm are you at?
+when takeing off is there any shift shock?
+do you regret the upgrade and wish you would have used 3.73:1?
+ how soon do you have to shift out of first gear? i know its kinda short stock, let alone 4.10.
+ any whine? ive herd ppl say they cant get rid of it and ive herd others say it dont exist. im sure if the shop takes their time it will make the difference

this is my first post on this website i skimmed a couple of pages back and couldent find info i was looking for. please forgive if its burried somewhere

You'll likely lose a mpg or two but that can actually be recovered if you spend more time in 5th gear. At 65 you should be around 2300 rpm.

I've got 3.73:1 gears and traction lock installed in my 7.5" rear and my MPG decreased an average of 2mpg with mixed driving. 4.10's will be more of a decrease but a bit quicker off the line.

Find an experienced shop around town and give them a call. Make sure they know what they're talking about and are ready to put a guarantee on their work. Express your concerns about gear whine. Contrary to popular belief if you use a good gear set and have it set up right it can actually be quieter and a good bit smoother than your factory installed gears. A little bit of gear whine is not normal, if you don't want it then don't put up with it.

With 3.73's my RPM's are about 2,300 at 70mph. With my stock 3.31's they were about 2,000 RPM's. I would expect that 4.10's would be at least 2,500 at 70mph but probably closer to 2,600 in reality.

I have a Hurst short throw too and let me tell you, after getting a bit taller gear set, the Hurst is just heaven.

now that seems a little more "fair and balanced" ! you seem pretty knowledgeable about things pony. do you plan on going F/I in the future? I ask because If i remember correctly, you did not go with the 8.8, which is what most v6 owners do when planning to go F/I later on.
