Default Does a 2008 V6 Mustang have a rev limiter?

Can someone tell me if there is a factory installed rev limiter on a 2008 V6 Mustang? It seems like one kicks in around 3900 RPM. This is while parked in nutural reving the engine. I have a manual 5 speed tranny.

Yep, it's in the ECU programming.

Thanks. Does 3800-3900 RPM sound right for the rev limiter to kick in? The car is stock. Also, is it the same for all gears? I'm just wondering. Thanks very much for any relpys.

There's a rev limiter neutral/park and a rev limiter drive. That sounds about right for neutral/park.

just out of curiosity....... why in the world would you want to rev your engine past 3900 in park or neutral anyway? That certainly is too high for a luanch rpm, too high for anything but scattering a motor from reving it without a load if you ask me. I mean, one of the only reasons I can think of for getting rid of that function would be to test out how long my rods would last in a engine not under load, for a reeeeeealy cool smoke and light show from my engine bay. Am I wrong?

Thanks for all the feedback. I have never owned a car that had a rev limiter so I was trying to get a little educated on it. Nice to know about the different limits for neutral/park vs. drive. I don't think it's a good idea to rev an engine that high in neutral or park. Not sure why you would want to anyway. I guess that is why the limiter seems to be set lower in that mode. Thanks again. Hopefully I can pass on some useful info to someone sometime.

seemed like he veiwed it as a bad thing that it was limited. idk why anyone would wanna rev it past what the limiter is set at either.

Make sure you still have a factory warranty left on your car because an engine is an expensive item to replace.
