I installed a performance distributor coil for my v6 mustang. I read about this in 5.0 magazine. It is called Screamin Demon coil, and wires. They have a special, the coil with color wires for $169.00. You increase the spark gap to 0.65,because of the intensity of the spark. The performance is unreal. I just came back from a trip to N.Y. and was at a constant 75-80 mph. and averaged 28 mpg.I figure it will pay for itself in the long run plus the increase in throttle response is fantastic. www.performancedistributors.com
very cool. thats on my list too. i`m hopin it helps my milage cause really mine is terrible. but i do wade through 1/2 hr of heavy traffic each day. there was post about this a week or so ago also.

As far as a tune, I wouldn't think so. All it does is increase the spark. I have Mine set for 91 octane, and after I installed the coil, I saw a great increase in throttle response. Thus I didn't have to retune the computer.
I had originally posted up about this coil and got like no response. What were you getting gas mileage before the coil? Right now i'm getting 26 driving from monticello to montgomery NY so its all mountains. How far up from the city did you go coot?
Before the coil I was getting 25-26 mpg. This is what I was getting last year when I went to Minn. So the coil is deffinitely an improvement. My trip from N.C. to Pt. Jefforson N.Y. was about 700 miles. This was going 75-80 mph on Rt.95. The thing that hurt the most was the tolls. They cost Me $60.00. The Verrazano bridge was $10.00 alone.
WOW that is good so you went out on Long Island havent been there since I was a teen. roads out there like giant parking lots. Great to hear you picked up 2 mpg. not sure about down south but we have to run that ethenol gas mix up here sure that hurts mileage too. I'll have to put the coil and wires on my wish list to Santa lol

Didn't think so. But I just wanted to make sure.

i have heard stories about the wires that come with that have a habit of backing off. i went with the msd super conductor wires and have had no problems and tons of fun. it was well worth the money.
my wires and coil should be here tomorow. i hope nothing is gonna back off anything. if i do have any problems, i`ll post it and buy some different wires.

also, you should change your plugs out with the bosch platinum/iridium +4. they have the correct plug gap and you will feel the difference plugs. i did it to mine and at first i felt a difference from the coils, but it felt like it should be more so i changed out my ngk iridium plugs for the bosch fussion iridium and they definately did the trick. just don't get zapped by the coils, i can tell you. it hurts pretty bad. lol
