Question 2005 V6 Mustang T-Lok

Is it really worth it? I mean i love my mustang as it is right now but i keep searching around and seeing how many people have gotten the t-lok for their mustang. What kind of difference does it make?

Please help out, thanks.

Just helps you control things a little better and focus power more evenly to the ground.

If you don't want to get gears that's fine but definitely get t-lock installed. Without it I would spin tire through first, second and into third gear on a 2000rpm launch. Now it hooks up right away and keeps the wheels on the ground the whole time. (except when they chirp from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd)

You'll find that the car is far less unwieldy than it is with the open differential.

spencer88 love the flag i got one up in my yard and in the window of my stang

the T loc. mines on order but i tested one

theres so much to go in to a tloc.
aside from gears (witch i reccomend while your in there to do )
you can find them all over motive makes the gears for ford racing go with them i found 373 and 410 for $159

but what it does is it transfers more power to the ground. usually cars only needed t loc if they put out some serious HP. thas why the GT has electric TCS(even though i think the GT is underpowered)

and rumor has it you can get that on a V6 too! however the tloc is a more solid choice, esp if u drive in snow or heavy rain often.

but as far as it goes, i would reccomend it for the simple fact, who wants a one wheel drive musle car? and if u burn rubber, you want to burn even, i got a near bald front right tire hehe

i cant wait to get mine and see how she works out!

on your stang put it on, throw some weight over the rear wheels and look out america!

I've been thinking of doing this also. What are all the parts needed?

time a t loc a set of gears, and i reccomend a rear end bearing kit.

all together mine was like 700 installed ish.

you need to have a shop do it, unless you got specialty tools, and one hell of a owners manual

well worth the penny i drove one with it in it much better than electronic TCS in my opinion, although its kidna the same thing

but if your gonna put those in why not a hurst shifter?

There's also the GT 8.8" takeoff route for a little more money.

Any body here ever use the Richmond Gear Power-Trax No-Slip? Cost about $450 and you can do in your driveway with no problems. Have had one in my 8.8" Ranger for 35K miles now with no problems, sure does help in snow.

A posi is in fact NOT the better choice for a car that is used alot in the rain and snow. With a open diff, when you loose traction on your drive wheel, the non-driven wheel maintains more traction and keeps the arse end of the car from "quickly" kicking around in the direction of yaw. In a positraction rear end, you don't have that luxury because both wheels loose traction just as readily, and it it much easier to loose control in low traction conditions with a posi or locked rear end. Worth it, but more difficult to drive in low traction conditions nontheless. If the car is a daily commuter and you don't plan on burning big knarly rubber strips on your local cul-de-sac, I say save your money until summer and do it then. Winter time is not fun with a posi. (especially if you are putting down big #s of hp) I could barely keep the back of my 68 cougar from whiping around on me almost every time I tried to accelerate in the rain and it only had 425 horse and 3.73 gears, and snow? fugataboutit. Better take the bus.

the hurst shifter for the v6 mustang rattles at mid to high rpms. i just changed my hurst out for a steeda and it much quieter. it's not quite as aggressive, but the steeda is also a short through, also the gear changes are smoother aswell. almost makes the car feel like a club racer.
