You could always install taller gears and a limited slip differential in your 7.5" rear end for around $750. Most people who do the 8.8" swap do it because they plan on adding some form of power adder (f/i or n20) in the future and don't want to risk breaking the 7.5". The 7.5" has proven to be plenty strong for applications 300rwhp and over but the 8.8" will always be able to handle more.
And don't even get me started on the garbage they install on these cars that they call a driveshaft. The ****** jumps ship at 115.
