Default Mustang V6 4.0 vs. Audi A4 1.8

Hi everyone, a friend of mine drives an audi 1.8 a4. Its either a 2004 or 05, i can't remember.

He wants to race me this spring in the 1/8 and 1/4. I've been
searching trying to find what times his car puts down but i've
been unable to find out. Its totally stock and has somewhere in the
neighborhood of 40k miles on it.

If anyone knows approximately what the 1/8 and 1/4 mile times are
stock please let me know.

I drive an 07 auto v6. I have an airaid cai and a borla axleback. I'm
adding bamachips tune, and 4.10's soon. I expect that to put me in the high 14's maybe 15.0 for the 1/4 mile.

1. Will high 14's be able to beat him?

2. If not is there anything i'll be able to do without s/c or turbo that
will make me able to beat him?

3. I expect to have a better chance in the 1/8. Am i right in thinking
that?

Thanks

It's turbocharged but it's a small turbo. Only 180 hp. Not sure what they weigh but if he's lighter, it might be close.

Well a buddy of mine has an A4 but its one of the V6 without the turbo. He has his tuned and exhaust. I blew his doors off when I only had exhaust and a K&N drop in filter. He doesn't even come close now. Im not sure the difference in the power of the two, but this guy CAN DRIVE, he does a bunch of autocross and stuff. I think you'll be fine. The tune will help out too. Just remember to turn tcs off and O/D off.

Off of audiworld.com, it rates the 2005 audi a4 1.8T at:

170 hp
166 lb/ft torque
curb weight is 3,252 lbs
0-60 in 7.8 sec
1/4 mile in 16.2 sec

If his is bone stock, and yours has the CAI, gears, etc, I'd say you should blow his doors off. Teach him to respect Detroit iron!!

at like 3 am this morning we were driving home on the highway and there were no cars around so we went from 60 - 100... well i went 60 to 100. he must have gotten to like 110-115 in the same amount of time. those cars blow us away at the higher end. I think i'll have the advantage off the line though...if i have traction

It is turbo'd. lol

In the low end you should pull him. They are not fast by any means. Even with work done to them they are not fast. I have a couple of friends with the A4's and I am not impressed by their speed. They are a comfortable car to ride/drive though. The AWD is nice too. lol
