Ok i have a situation, i have a 05 stang v6. I want the steeda cold air kit for it but it requires a tune so what should i do, from you'lls eperience is it safer to try and buy a tuner and tune it yourself or take it somewhere and get it done, also which would be cheaper. Im so confused i wouldnt want to mess up on tuning it cause im not sure how anything works im new to all this..HELP ME
Get the steeda intake and then go buy a Diablo sport tuner... there's a setting on there for the steeda intake just click it and it does it all for you.

You really can't tune it yourself.
You can buy the CAI and tuner in a combo package, or you can buy the CAI and get the tune seperately from a company like Tillman who is a sponsor of this site.
Do a search on CAI's on this forum and you find a ton of information.
Good luck!

If you're going to buy an intake for your car (be it Steeda, Mac, JLT, C&L, K&N, Demolet, etc) it is absolutely going to require a tune.
Your best bet is to buy an intake/tuner package from bamachips, brenspeed, evolution performance or another reputable company. The tuner will come loaded with 3 custom tunes of your choice based on octane rating and application (ie: torque, performance, race, etc.)

The C&L, JLT and Demolet (Tunable Inductions) are typically considered the 'best' intakes available. BBK, Steeda, Mac, K&N, AEM, etc. are still good intakes although they are less popular.
They're all basically the same and you won't see more than 1-2hp difference from one to the next. The real difference is the price and the way it looks under your hood.

Go to bamachips.com and order the JLT & Tuner combo. You get a free tune when you order that. I suggest that because I haven't used Tillman because I don't have an SCT, but Doug never did me wrong at bamachips. Great guy, great service, nothing but good things to say about his products, and his customer service. He had to alter something on my tuner, I emailed him at about 830 at night not expecting an answer until the next morning, within 10 minutes I had my tune fixed. IMO that customer service is rare and top notch.

I like my tune from bamachips and all on my GT, but when i had my 4.0 tuned by Alternative Auto, it was like night and day. They truly have amazing tunes for the mustang (4.0 at least) it's just unfortunate they aren't as popular here on these boards.
id steer clear of the steeda. althought steeda is a great brand, its not the best intake on the market. it still uses you stock rubber intake hose/tube. imo the jlt, de molet and c&l are top of the line so far. i have the jlt and love it. as for a tune and tuner, go with an sct xcal from bamachips.com and get that free tune from doug. i love the 93 race tune i have now, but im also considering a tillman tunesometime soon. good luck, do some research, and make your decision. happy modding!
