2005 mustang v6 squeak/chirp/etc. any suggestions 18660 miles.
And it's making the same noise a 100k mile car with a squeaky serp belt would make. Except louder. And constantly.
I'm thinking one or more of the pulleys is FUBAR, but theres no damn way that could be the case with less than 20k miles on it...is there?
Ideas/Suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Maybe you're tensioner pulley is shot, causing the belt to slip. Or maybe a bearing is shot. That's all I could see going wrong.

Belted A squirt of belt dressing is my usual first diagnostic step (other than checking to see that the belt looks ok and is properly tensioned).
Check for low power steering fluid.
Is the car still under warranty?

i saw a service record for my car when it had 30,000 from the previous owner. they replaced the power steering pump. but it was leaking. but they can make the noise you are talking about too. had that same noise in my f-250 and put up with it for a long time till i changed it finaly. this would be a good time to buy a cheap mechanics stethascope and zero in on the noise. just a idea

Hard to say. I mean, it IS a Ford.
Honestly, I didn't ask. I just wanted it fixed. They fixed it.

goin out on a limb here but... how does a crank pulley, being that it is a solid piece of metal make a squeak noise. pretty sure a belt woulda fixed it alone and if you payed for it, thinkin maybe you got hosed.

i had a crank pully come apart on my old dodge 4x4, but it had a rubber ring seperating the outside weight from the hub.
