Default PO 191 Trouble Code...2005 Mustang V6

HELP! Car started running rough,...then dying. Got it in the driveway and now it runs fine one minute..shut it off, and it doesn't crank the next! OBD II scanner shows 2 trouble codes: PO191 and PO191 (pending). My list shows this to be "fuel rail pressure sensor circuit pange/performance". Car has 50Kmiles on it! Anybody have an idea what to check?
Also...could be related... instrument cluster is acting crazy....temp and fuel gauge erratic, tach reads crazy sometimes..just started this a few weeks ago.

Looks like we have lots of readers...but few willing to throw out a guess as to the problem! A brief update: I changed the fuel filter, drove for a day or so, car suddenly started running really bad, died a few seconds later...would not restart. No trouble codes set. I pulled and checked all fuses in the engine compartment..then moved to the inside fuses on the passenger side. Just above the fuse compartment is a wild looking plug...something like a 20 pin connector with a snap lock device to keep it from vibrating loose. I unplug for a second, plug it back in..car starts and runs great.
A day later...same thing. Car starts running poorly, dies..and the plug trick works again. Unplug/replug..everything fine again for a little while.
SO... I'm guessing a loose wire in the plug maybe? Sometimes it sets the 191 trouble code, sometimes not (just won't crank). Anybody willing to guess?????

You've either got an electrical issue or a problem with the fuel pump, fuel pump driver, or pressure regulator. Sounds like it's a low fuel pressure issue..

Umm.... I would call your dealership. If removing the fuse does that maybe try a new fuse.

Default Thanks for the ideas!

Appreciate the responses. I really can't take an intermittent problem like this to the dealership yet...we all know how that would turn out : runs great for them, they collect their $150 for 'checking it out'... and it does it again on the way home.
Now if it would just do it consistently, I'd take it to them tomorrow morning!
BTW, anyone know what the plug is that I described? I don't know what to call it, just having to describe it by location and locking mechanism. Thanks again!

the fuse and relay box inside is just called the smart junction box. a bunch of people have had problems from water leaking in there somewhere. a guess might be to place some towels around it and spray the plug with electrical contact cleaner.( just a wild guess, thing to try)

Thanks for the info about the water leakage. Unplugging and reconnecting that plug is no longer doing the trick. New fuel pump ( I KNEW better than to 'throw' parts at it!) didn't help either. Trying to find a fuel pressure gauge now that will tee into the line at the fuel rail (w/o having to cut hoses the old school way)...but no luck. I would think Actron or somebody makes such an animal..the Hayne's manual tells you to use exactly such a thing..but I can't find one local. Time for some internet searching I guess...
