Default 2008 Mustang V6 JLT CAI Rattling Issues

I love my Mustang but it's sure causing me quite a few problems. I installed a JLT cold air intake a few weeks ago and at approx 1000 RPMs (only in D not neutral or park) there's a terribly noisy vibration coming from the heat shield. Now I know it's coming from the heat shield because i used some regular old masking tape and some fragments of soundproofing foam board to pad the points where I believe the heat shield was contacting, and the sound has gone away. But the aesthetic value of masking tape and black pieces of foam in the engine bay is pretty low. Has anyone experienced this problem? And if so is there a clever solution that doesnt look so tacky?

hey, i just installed my jlt yesterday. there are no vibrations or rattles at all. did you put the rubber insulator/washer from the stock airbox under the heat sheild? that washer has a bushing in it too. i put mine under and tightened that bolt good. my filter is sitting about a 1/2 in. from the fender, and about a 1/2 in. up from the wheelwell. the only thing about it i`m gonna change is the wire tie to hold the other side in which i snugged up pretty good(about 1 1/2 in.), i`m gonna bend and fit a metal bracket to bolt that side in( as soon as it warms up a little outside) and i cut about 3 inches off the hose and wire tied that on.

i didnt try using the rubber washer but that's exactly the kind of thing i was thinking of fabricating myself. im going to try that first thing in the morning along with uploading the new tunes from bama.

hopefully i can get rid of the rattle and smell issues and move on to bigger problems haha

hmm...i think the shield is different for cars with ABS and non ABS. mine is zip tied around the ABS metal hoses. and i used the rubber bushing. might check that too.

mine doesnt have the abs, so i had to zip tie to the bolt hole. but thats where i`m gonna make a nice bracket to bolt in and get rid of the zip tie( its not he best looking thing)

Well as I was putting on the rubber bushing i was searching the airbox for something i could maybe steal from it and I found a square piece of black foam with sticky stuff attached to it. I plucked it off and put it at one of the contact points...I'll take a picture if i get the nerve to go outside in the cold today/if my Roush spoiler arrives today

But it looks nice, much nicer than masking tape.

And I remember there being a zip tie in the box, but i lost it, along with the directions. I was wondering what that second hole was used for.
