Default 2008 Ford Mustang Convertible battery drain issues

Hello:

My father has a 2008 Ford Mustang Convertible and has already had the vehicle towed in because it was not able to start. They replaced the battery, but the problem has not gone away.

When the vehicle is off, the motor for the convertible top cycles on every minute for about 15 seconds. It seems that this is draining the battery.

He purchased the vehicle about 3 weeks ago and it has been in the shop 3 times for the same issue.

Any thoughts from the experts on this forum?

Thanks

If it's still under warranty I would take it in and have them look at it.

Batery drain while sitting is very common on the S197. Get yourself a battery tender if it's going to be sitting for extended periods..

I never hear or feel my vert motor cycle when the car is off or on. That would deffinetly be the problem. From what I understand it is a hydraulic system. The motor might cycle due to a leak in the system and it is trying to maintain sytem pressure. Or there is a electrical fault causing it to cycle. I believe there to be a switch located somewhere in the right side of the top framing to tell if roof is up or down. It may be faulty thinking the top is not fully open or closed and is telling the pump motor to run.

Take it to dealer, make sure a tech comes out and listens and hears it running with you. If the pump motor is running, that is the battery drain.

was it purchase brand new. because they have the thingy, that you can add to make the top auto down and up. so you do not need to hold the button. So if it is used, check that out.
